We used to go to Chef Mickey’s for breakfast with the kids when they were younger. We enjoyed it. As they (and we) grew older, it was just too much chaos, noise, and we felt rushed. We haven’t been there in a very long time. We’ve never gone for dinner. We are not very adventurous eaters. Not seafood fans. We like steak but have a lot of other steak restaurants in our plans. I am looking to book a TS dinner for one of our MK days. It will be DH’s BD (which unfortunately falls on our MK day). Convenience to the park is a must. LTT was always our go-to choice for MK, but lately, it just isn’t hitting anymore. I feel that the quality has declined. The food choices at Skipper Canteen are so limited. I really struggle with TS at MK! Not many good choices for our tastes. I would like to go to DS, but we would probably want to be back in MK for part of the evening. (Why don’t they have convenient transportation from DS to the parks?)
I am wondering if Chef Mickey’s is as chaotic at dinner as it used to be for breakfast? The appeal here is that everyone could get what they want at a buffet, and as much or little as they want. How is the quality of the food at dinner? Is it better, worse, or the same as Crystal Palace? Our most recent experience there was not great, although for characters, I prefer Pooh to Mickey.
One other option would be Tony’s . Everyone in the family likes Italian, and although the reviews are meh, we could probably be satisfied there.
I always try to be there for at least one character meal and possibly not like 3 and my youngest grandson had his first Chef Mickey’s breakfast over 30 years ago
I had the pleasure of trying Chef Mickey’s supper in July 2024. Loved it. Great food. I don’t know what breakfast is like nowadays but supper was ok. I’d go again.
One of our fav supper character meals is Tusker House at AK and since that’s mostly one big room, it can get noisy. Chef Mickey’s felt as tho the dining areas had been alcoved, if that’s a verb.
One of the reasons I go to Disney is to have fun with the characters. It’s their job and I feel the least I can do is share the joy.
Chef Mickey’s is hard to get except after 8pm. Is it worth it for adults? NO. Food choices have went down and unless your a big character fan, I won’t go back. Being fair, most TS quality has went way down over the years. Now the last time we went in 2025 Coral Reef was actually good. The other option I might suggest is Hoop De Do Review. Draw back is it is over in Wilderness Lodge area and only three dinning times. Food is good such as Fried Chicken and common picnic type food. The play is quite good if you haven’t seen it before. Little pricey and mush pay at reservation time for the full amount.
I second this. We didn’t go to Tony’s for the longest time due to bad reviews, but we went in 2024 and it was pretty good, reasonable price (no prix-fixe!) and convenient if you want to stay in the park.
I don’t need to dine every night. With all that implies, the least of which is time.
Give me some edible food in a timely manner, keep the water glass filled, check in occasionally and let me pay my bill today. Tony’s has that. It’s busy and noisy but a waiter zooming by carrying food elsewhere, and still checking our table and speaking as he heads out of sight, is awesome to me. That guy I’m happy to tip.
We did a breakfast there in Dec and maybe it’s cuz I was expecting it to be bad that I was pleasantly surprised. We were in some back room on the other side of the buffet and it wasn’t loud or chaotic over there. I enjoyed the food. We were all adults.
I also enjoy Tony’s but you very much have to order right. The Parmesan chicken and the Alfredo are both good. The pizza is terrible. Doughy and wet and not completely cooked. If you stick to pasta and classics you’ll be fine there and if you ask for an outdoor table around parade time if there is a night parade you can view it while eating from there.
