Live Trip Report: HMB & Keith718 are back!

OOH—I am going to pm you a link to the cocktail book we bought. It’s the BEST. Has a recipe for every drink you could ever want, with plenty of instructions and everything. It’s our bible. And a slippery slope to acquiring literally every kind of alcohol possible :sweat_smile: I keep telling the fiancé that if we add anything more to the bar cart it might actually collapse. This is how it started…. But now it’s at least twice as full :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

He will be dragged along at some point this year :joy: … We started dating right after our November ‘19 trip, which is when Keith bought DVC. So he knows he has more than a few Disney trips in his future. But I think he’ll appreciate it when we have a kid.

Oof I hope you get out ok! What an afternoon of dramatic weather. It sorta looks like it’s clearing up? Fingers crossed you aren’t too delayed… and it was so nice running into to you!

Topolinos has an excellent filet. IMHO better than Le Cellier

Wow, I have never seen this airport this crazy. Many many delays I guess from weather. We are now delayed, can’t tell us how long

It’s days like that when you just have to turn around and spend another night at Disney. :man_shrugging:

Ugh. That sucks. (That was a sympathetic heart) Fingers crossed they get stuff working soon.

I got my son that shirt and his cousin the matching dress for when we stay at the Poly in November! It made me way too excited to see someone wearing it.

Finally catching up with you.

Your review of Topolino’s is on par with everything I’ve read. I’ve had only breakfast there but definitely need to get there for dinner. Your cocktail Big Brain Move was indeed very big brain of you.

But I agree about the resort. Perfectly “fine” and nothing exceptional. Perhaps excepting only the mosaic murals out by the Skyliner. I have less than no desire to stay there. Visit? Sure.

PS your room view sucks.

PPS that was my altar ego. She is mega jealous of you.

:joy::joy::joy: that’s fair, alter ego of OBNurse … honestly sometimes I’m jealous of myself.

I know! It’s totally NOT FAIR! But at least we got to go to Geyser Point tonight at the best resort ever. Re-entering the real world is going to suck.

How did Keith like the casoulet? I was tempted to order that when I ate there in January (with the Fab Four), but ended up with the rigatoni which was delicious!

Wow I am so behind in my live report. Shame on me! (Blame the heat)

Picking up from yesterday morning:

We didn’t leave early enough to get in a short enough line for FOP, so instead we joined the short NRJ line. We didn’t wait long—maybe 15 minutes. Then we moseyed to Africa to take a Safari. As mentioned earlier, that line was LONG. A lot of yesterday felt like we spent it waiting, either in line, or for the rain to stop.

We had a pretty ok Safari; the lions weren’t out, but I very much identified with this rhino:

We were lucky to be in the back row of the truck; I know I sound like a broken record but oy, those plastic sheets! They’re just the worst! (I wouldn’t complain if they actually made anyone safer, but it seems like they do the opposite, which is even more irritating.)

We stopped for a snack—we split a Simba pretzel, Keith got a muffin, and I got a pickle (yummm).

Keith wanted to go pet some goats. We got to the train to Rafiki’s and waited a long while—longer still because we were the first people cut off for getting on the train, so we had to wait for the next one.

We patted some goats and sheep and waved at the alpaca. We were tired and sweaty so we didn’t stay long.

I decided that it was time for a thrill, so I peeled off from Keith to go ride Everest. TP predicted it would be a 20 minute wait, and it was just about that. I got extra lucky because as I got off the ride (reminder to self to also ask about this on-ride photo!), they were closing the line because it was about to start pouring. Right before it did, though, Keith and I got to do the cool super-zoom photo! I find it hilarious that he was looking fully the wrong direction

Right after that, the skies opened up. And truly, I have never been outside for a storm that intense. There was one peal of thunder that was so directly overhead it was mildly terrifying and also SO LOUD.

There wasn’t much to do other than poncho up and wait it out. We didn’t feel like sloshing through to pandora or dinoland, so we huddled under an umbrella and waited for our ADR at Yak & Yeti.

I know Y&Y doesn’t always get great reviews, but we both enjoyed it! Keith’s tikka masala was pretty flavorful, and I did my best with the tuna nachos. I made a pretty good dent in them.

Ok more in a bit—gotta get our bags so we can get ready for the Tragical Express. sob
