Will we use them? UPDATE: Not exactly

I love it. DD6 has been doing dance since she was 2.5, but she just does a class a week. Its a little ballet/jazz/tap all combined. Of all the things she’s tried she loves dance the best, so eventually I’m planning to add a little more. I try not to go too serious into any one particular activity at this age, but this is the one consistent thing she’s been doing since she was a toddler.

Substitute dance for karate and this is us. Altho we’ve (family) gained a day - Wednesday - since covid (silver lining). Now only do all day Sunday, 4 hrs Monday nights and 3 hours Thursday nights. Used to do Tuesdays also but that’s a different story.

It takes up so much time but when they live and breathe it, what’sa person to do?!? :woman_shrugging:

Yes. When she started she did just tap for a couple of years. Then she added ballet. Then Broadway tap, contemporary, lyrical, jazz, hip hop, pointe, urban contemporary…

She assistant teaches now too and has been teaching at dance camps for going on four years now.

She’s a busy girl. She is talented and passionate. And watching her on the stage is absolutely one of my favorite things.

Please hold while I get a photo to show her off…

Stunning!! Now I’ll know who to contact when I want DD6 to have some private lessons. One thing I love about her age is that she just will dance anywhere at any time. Last trip to Epcot we went to the building with all the art for sale and I got the cutest video of her dancing in all the lights, not a care in the world. (I’m not sure if this link will work or not )

Thank you.

I’m realizing that we need to make arrangements for her senior pictures in about 6 months… oy!

That does not change. I constantly notice DD working through various combinations in all kinds of places. The feet don’t stop.

It does and OMG she is adorable

Adorable :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:! When I dance like that in random places, I get escorted out…

Holy $&@#! My son is a junior and we will need to do that too! I have been in complete denial.

The covid situation, with so much remote learning (at least for us) has made it easy to lose track of where we are at in the scheme of things. I recently sent for some college information for her. Ouch

My son is going to CC to start and transfer when he has a better idea of what he wants to do. Right now he is seriously considering following his dad into the fire service. Then I get to do it all over again next year. My boys are back to back.

ETA: we are completely remote as well.

Honestly aside from the dance focus on some level she isn’t sure what she wants to do either so that might be our route too. Makes good financial sense too

My daughter is a senior. We have not done senior pics yet. :woman_facepalming:t2:But at least I ordered her cap and gown. For a ceremony that is unlikely to take place. :disappointed: What a weird year!

That is heartbreaking!

My brother did this, got 2 years at cc free. Then finished at a top engineering school. Zero student loans, does design at volvo.
Meanwhile I chose a private liberal arts undergrad. Even with financial aid and scholarships and my parents paying the equivalent of state tuition, I had 10 years of loan repayment.

I’m a super nerd who believes in the inherent value of a liberal arts education, though, so no regrets.

I too did cc for 2 years free and then transferred to a private college where I was given a very large scholarship. When combined with financial aid, I was able to pay a small amount out of pocket and had to take out no loans. I will definitely be recommending this to my own children when it’s time for college. DH and I have talked and decided that we would like for our three children to work out their own college debt so I am hoping they take this route.

If that were me and I was really worried, I’d have my kids skip that last week of school and isolate at home. You will be taking them out of school for Disney, just time shifted a little.

I dont know how things are going or your quarantine rules are where you live, but we have had schools open all year here and have had zero in-school transmission and the need for kids to quarantine from school activities has been next to nothing. As long as kids wear their masks there is usually no reason for a quarantine even in a kid in their class tests positive. Lunch/Snack time is really the only time there is a higher risk, but I’m sure you can convince them to put it back on while chewing if Disney is hanging in the balance.

Same here, except we had to switch pre-schools for DS4 and DD2 because their previous one decided to close. Because of DS4’s medical needs, only 2 of the 10 places we visited were options for us. We chose the one that was half the price of the other. Unfortunately, they lied to us about their mask enforcement. When we were there the first week to train them on DS4’s medical needs, we were shocked that half the teachers had their masks down. We were the first parents allowed back there since COVID, and we caused a big sh*$storm with all the parents. Now they are enforcing the masks (at least we are told). But they have also shut down twice already since we’ve been there, which has only been 6 weeks. Each shutdown was 2 weeks. So yeah, it is a big concern…

On the other hand DS6 is in Kinder, and the public schools here are doing a great job containing things.
