Yep! We all have the same addiction!
(I call it my hobby, instead of sports & such to make it seem less obsessive!
)

I canāt⦠I gave up sports after the Pandemic. I realized that I was spending so much time and emotional energy on sports. Plus, my former teams are habitual losers. I spent 30 years feeling angry, sad and frustrated over games that I have no input on or way to influnece yet affected me so much!!

I get that. Iāve changed me mental approach to sports over the years. Iām not heavily emotional invested in teams anymore. If my team wins, great ⦠if not, Iām over it a few minutes afterward. I enjoy the experience of watching plus hanging out with friends and family. Example: My college friends and I are spread across the country, but we get together once a year to attend a football game. If we didnāt have this planned around a game, weād probably go years without all getting together.
After visiting Anfield stadium in Liverpool and buying a tonne of merch (their merch game is strong) I decided that maybe I should take an interest and so became a Liverpool supporter.
But all that actually interested me was the numbers. I had no emotional commitment.
They won the league so the next season I switched to the Wolverhampton Wanderers because their logo was cooler.
A couple of years later they were relegated. Which was very exciting.
Iām an autistic soccer supporter. I just like the numbers.

The planning and entertainment part is a hobby. Getting a rush from finding a way to get more for the same amount of money, basically maximizing my money is the addiction.
I have family members involved in sports as strength and conditioning coaches for teams, or a college player turned graduate assistant on the path to be a future head coach. I follow whatever team they are involved with. That gets emotional. But that is part of the fun!
This right here! ![]()
You people have loads of sports. We only have one. So which UCONN team do I have to follow.
That would be basketball ![]()
Menās or Womenās basketball ![]()
I was intentionally vagueā¦
Lady basketball? They didnāt have that in my day.
Who you calling ladies??
That is why I mentioned it!
The UConn men won the championship in 2023 and 2024, and they lost in the championship game a couple of months ago.
Since 2008, The UConn women have played in at least the national semi-final game (The Final Four) every year except for 2. Those would be the 2020 tournament, which was cancelled due to the pandemic, and 2023. During this same time frame, they won the tournament 7 times.
So both UConn basketball teams are very strong programs.
