Universal Orlando News & Planning Thread

I know that rope dropping Volcano Bay is pretty easy and helps with riding some of the more popular rides, but does VB slow down towards closing? We are there for 5 days next week and will probably rope drop one day, but considering a second visit in the afternoon on another day.

Yeah I’d say it does. It will be hard to guarantee you’d get through any set number or rides, but you should be able to experience a few without waiting too long - I’d say after 3pm? But also keep in mind June / July is peak afternoon rain season, so you might have to wait for a storm to blow through.

The Fearless River is my favorite attraction. I could just go around and around all day.

Totally agree on Fearless River!

I was at the OG parks this past weekend and used my regular (breakaway) lanyard for lockers without issue. Just the standard ā€œput your lanyard under your shirtā€ for the coasters

Unrelated news! The new Jurassic park restaurant is literally taking the entire team from mythos including chefs, servers, managers etc with them. They anticipate only a few weeks between when mythos closes and the new restaurant opens. Personally, I’m psyched they are keeping everyone. I’m sure the food will continue to be top notch and the servers are the best around!

Wow! They must’ve been working overtime to come up with this name :roll_eyes::rofl::rofl:

To save you clicking, it’s officially named

Universal United Kingdom Resort :+1:t4::laughing:

The sad part is that I’m sure they had SO many brand sessions!

I literally hate this. I don’t know why. Probably because nobody calls it the United Kingdom. I mean, I know that’s the name, but no-one says that.

It’s really annoying living in a country with three different names. Especially when you have to pick the name from a big scrolling list on a website and they only have the last one you try.

As Rachel Reeves Pledges is an odd name for a park …

I see what you mean.

(In seriousness I usually only see United States or USA. But DON’T click ā€œUnited States outlying islandsā€ :man_facepalming:)

All the other Universal theme parks are named after the town / city where they are, right? So they specifically ruled out Universal Kempston Hardwick because no-one has ever heard of it. And Universal Bedford would actively put people off going.

Why didn’t they do the scam everyone else does and call it Universal London? I mean, it’s not in London but it’s close. And lots of other things are called London and are nowhere near, e.g. London Stansted Airport, London Luton Airport, London Oxford (really?!) Airport. I mean Gatwick and Heathrow are miles way from London. And Warner Bros Studios (the Harry Potter place) isn’t in London, either.

This is what they should do.

There’s still time - Disneyland Paris was called EuroDisney for years.

Actually that gives me an idea … EuroUniversal …

Still is in my head

People might just name it themselves and a consensus might emerge.

Like, who says Willis Tower? Or Gulf of America ? Or Trump-Kennedy Center?

Just like how the Meadowlands World Cup games are being advertised as New York.

So was Super Bowl XLVIII (what flapping number is that… oh, 48)

New Jersey got screwed regarding Staten Island, almost got screwed regarding Liberty Island (they partially won that one), and got screwed regarding their border with The State of Delaware regarding The Delaware River (there is a small bit of Delaware that actually connects with New Jersey via land)

Me and Maggie feel in love with the not so lazy river at Atlantis. I’m trying to decide if I want to upgrade to a 4 park ticket just so we can do this, but have no clue when we would fit it in.

We did the same for the older parks–printed and folded (or the card when we were at Hard Rock). Of all the days, I had one TM ask me to take it completely out.

I took DD10’s lanyard from her and put it under my shirt with mine  . Facial recognition also worked well at Epic. I still hate lockers, and I’m also still amazed bags can go on the ride with you on things like RnRC at Disney. Same at GoTG–there was something rolling around at my feet. I thought something had fallen out of my bag, but it was someone else’s empty gatorade bottle

I just wanted to flag that they are running a buy 3 days get 2 days free ticket sale. And the base ticket prices dropped. I’m call in OI today to try to switch my 3 day 3 park ticket to a 5 day, 4 park ticket and I should still save $70 on two tickets!

I wanted to note that because I had to cancel all my tickets (and some had gone up) and because you are either charged a restock fee of 5% or you are given a coupon for the value of what you cancelled, I was not able to get any savings off of the ticket change. BUT I was able to switch from a 3 day, 3 park ticket to a 5 day 4 park ticket for free. So now on arrival and departure day we will be able to have a little park time for free. And we will get to check out the Fearless River.

It’s moments like these when I know for sure trip planning is my addiction.
