Universal Orlando News & Planning Thread

I contacted Guest Services. The deposit is refundable as long as you cancel before 45 days before your arrival. If you cancel with less than 45 days you only get $50 back. (They charge you a $200 “fee”)

You always go above and beyond.

Do you by any change know the answer to the second part of my question?

The disclaimer says you get a full refund on everything from Universal and a credit from your airline for the value of the plane ticket. If the plane ticket price goes up when you reschedule, you must pay the difference.

Hope I’m not aggravating you –but if you DON’T buy the cancel for any reason, I understand you wouldn’t get a refund within 45 days–but could you move the reservation to different dates? I want to be cheap, haha, and absolutely would intend to go, but, you know, life could have other ideas.

These are regular park tickets + hotel, not HHN. I won’t hold you responsible for anything you tell me here either–I’m just curious if your impressions of things match mine.

Not at all. I’m bored at work! Be right back!

Remember. Larry only works 2 hours a day. :innocent:

A couple of quick “news” items -

Chez Alcatraz is getting remodeled. There will still a beverage tent selling the Ocean Attack drinks while this is happening

All paid lockers have increased their prices by $1 across all the parks…

They’re a cash cow I guess… People will pay it, but I think it’s getting high enough they may hear complaints. I would if I had to use them. I was really upset about not being allowed to bring my lock box to Volcano Bay and having to pay $10 for a locker that day

You’re surprisingly accurate! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: :innocent:

It’s 15 years of doing the same job! As long as you stay on top of it, every day, you don’t have to do much except be here for the “unexpected” or if someone needs an extra hand

You gotta pay a $50 fee to reschedule if you don’t have the “Cancel for Any Reason” protection plan. With it, you can reschedule with no penalty.

Just curious… When are you considering going & for how many days? On the fourth day / visit to the parks an AP pays for itself & you get AP hotel rates…

I’m gonna answer elsewhere–I’ll @ you.

Remember the Kong 2-D is “testing” until March 9th to see what the guest feedback is as @bebe80 reported. I confirmed it with a TM I talk with from JPRA as well.

If you want it to stay you need to go on social media or visit their webpage to let them know!!!

Also… Circus McGurkus is back in the “news”… It appears they installed a robot specifically to work the fryer there! I’m all in favor of this! My first job was at a Wendy’s! The fryer would burn you at least once a week with hot surfaces or grease.

You can’t see it from the restaurant, but it is in use! Pretty neat!

TMs have named it “Horton” in honor of the beloved Dr. Seuss character!

It’s not a SF thing… they’d keep lots of mechanical parts in stock because those have to be replaced from time to time anyway, but things that don’t get replaced (like any part of the electrical controls systems) they have to send from Switzerland and there’s just no way to get it any sooner. We’d run into the same thing at Cedar Point when I worked there, though it wasn’t specific to Intamin. There were 3 other non-Intamin coasters that had extended downtime when they either got a direct lighting strike or when an electrical panel started on fire.

Occasionally they’d be able to take a part from another ride and make do (like when Magnum’s lift motor blew up the day before Coastermania and they repurposed a motor from Disaster Transport, which actually lasted until this summer!), but even that takes a little while to get going.

I wonder how many “food reviews” we’ll see tonight & tomorrow with everyone trying to be first! I bet someone does a livestream today! There’s not much “news” in February

You can meet Woody & Winnie Woodpecker there today!

I wonder if they’ll get robot fry cooks too??

I’ve already heard of one insufferable weirdo who filmed a TM walking their tray to them for the video. I hate these people so much lol

Same! Plus, I bet the “review” is - ‘Everything was AMAZING!’

I don’t dislike reviews per say but deffinatley making Team Members do work for YOUR videos ticks me off. Same reviewer also is known to stiff tips and order cheaply/stay at a seat all night.

I know I am late to this discussion, but I.keep expecting to be able to do this! So strange it doesn’t

But not as strange as the favt that there is no mobile enabled Universal site…

That is all around poor behavior.

I was in Vegas at a nice restaurant and the couple next to us filmed evwrything the server did, even had the re-serve them a few things to get the shot.
