The ride overhaul game

You say it as if it is an either/or!

We actually have a King’s Island trip coming up in June…4 days in the parks with the family.

Some budgets have to make choices. We’d lean toward new and exciting over same old stuff. Esp if I have any hope of DH visiting again.

Yes, the famous scene where he is running from the boulder is in Peru. I would love Dinoland to be rethemed to South America / Indiana Jones.

Would love this, but other than that one scene, it would have to be too heavy on Crystal Skull stuff to be geographically honest and stay out of most of the good/classic Eastern Hemisphere stuff that the series is known for. Unless the land can be both South America AND non-location-dependent IJ.

Plus there has to be enough animal focus to justify being in AK unless branded as a loose discovery/archaology theme. Are there enough significant animal moments in IJ? Snakes, rats, elephants, bugs (already have ITTBAB), the circus train?

But overall I need some IJ at WDW other than the HS show any way I can get it.

Disneyland’s IJ ride takes place in a non-descript jungle location, probably India, but could conceivably be interpreted / changed to be South American. It is not based on one of the movies. The ride does include a handful of animal species, but I think the point would be more of the location than the animal focus, same as Everest.

The rest of the land could be South American themed, with llamas, sloths, etc. similar to Maharajah? Actually, they probably won’t put animals in that part of the park in order to preserve the ability to have night entertainment nearby. The rest of the attractions / shopping could be thematic to South American wildlife and culture, though.

holy crap I haven’t laughed that hard at a response in a while.

Well friggin played.

Btw…the ride area for Stitch’s Great Escape needs a redo… it’s just sitting there right now, begging for a good idea.

bah, didn’t read far enough ahead. Ya beat me to it.

DL’s Indy ride is so well done I do not understand why AK even has Dino which is like driving at midnight with headlights off on the unpaved gravel county road attached to my [better] driveway. Altho louder. When the super fed coyotes are roaming around at night that county road becomes legitimately scarier than Dino, too.

@bswan26 , I fully agree with your take on the 3 Caballeros and the Mexico ride except the kid that lives at my house loves  them - has watched the movie eleventy dozen times - and rides the ride many times every trip. Watched the mini-parade or whatever with Panchito at MK, Disney bounded Panchito at the big birthday bash trip’s MNSSHP. It’s difficult to lobby for their removal in the face of all that delight.

There certainly is existing technology to make this really effective, especially with haunting bits that don’t show up every ride. Or many of the artifacts, relics and animals. Even sound effects and visuals against wet/ice covered cavern sides. The ride would be less weather dependent if it were completely enclosed.

Randall! Good to see you here today! I feel like it’s been a long time, but maybe I just don’t hang out on the right threads.

For quite some time there was a rumor that it was going to become a VR race ride out of Wreck it Ralph. That seemed to die at the same time the Coco in Mexico did.

It’s not the most original idea, but why not retheme Tomorrowland Speedway/Autopia to Wreck it Ralph. And obviously those cars need to be electric! We really limited our time in that area because the gas smell bothered all of us all so much. I’ve had an electric car for more than 10 years now, it’s not even futuristic anymore!

Great idea! Sugar rush could work there. Or a good restaurant even. Anything’s better than TS.

Agreed. I felt Sugar Rush would be the perfect fit for a Speedway redo into electric vehicles.

I haven’t been around much. My anger with how Disney is handling the 50th and my conflicting feelings on going on more trips just lead me to just kinda take a break from all things for a little bit.

but upshot is

Oh, since you were asking about it/waiting for it, should visit the art thread when you get a minute.

eh, not sure Tomorrowland would benefit from another “race experience” with speedway. So kinda glad this puttered out (pun completely intended).

It’s a good idea but can you imagine the bellyaching from the die-hards? Oof. I think the best you could hope for would be just a change over to electric cars on the track while keeping the same theme.

I think they should change DinoLand to a desert and Antarctica, an “extreme climates” theme. (And honestly the lack of shade already makes it kind of a wasteland…) Redo Dinosaur to an Ice Age theme ride, such as you are Sqrat following the acorn thing through dinosaurs extinction and the big freeze.

It’s not my original idea but I haven’t seen it mentioned yet… redo RNRC as Monsters Inc. with the door scene.

Hey that’s kind of a neat idea, keeps with/can work in the conservation theme of the park. I’ve never seen anyone suggest this before!
