Southwest 30% Off Base fare

Yeah the drops are most efficiently appreciated when points have been used for booking.
January was only just released - and only the very first days - so it will probably be some time before you begin to see fluctuations in the pricing.

1/4/24 through 1/6/24

I checked for a December trip. My departure flights were back to full price. The flights leaving MCO were still discounted though

Welp.

For CP drop off in August I had Julia and me flying out of BOS because the flight time for nonstop was much better.

However, I was unaware until this morning (how?!) that the Sumner Tunnel, which is the main way of getting to Logan Airport, is closing on 7/5 for approximately 2 months. They are telling folks to plan an extra TWO HOURS time to get to the airport. Hell for that much time I may as well fly out of PVD!

So I switched us back to flying out of MHT at the gross hour of 0500, but anything later doesn’t get us there until late in the day and involves stops. It did cost me roughly 6K in points to make the switch (CURSES!) but it cost me nothing in cash and will save us hours of headache getting to the airport (and my DH additional hours getting out after dropping us off to go back home).

That is very dumb. It stinks that was sprung on you so late. Good you were able to figure something else out.

Truly it was probably my inattention to things happening south of me more than anything LOL

Not their fault, really!

I can’t change my flight on 7/9 though - I couldn’t get to NYC from MHT and had to book JetBlue out of BOS. So DH will have no choice that day :frowning:

In case anyone who is a Costco member is interested.

I just bought a gift card last week so I’m set for now.

Ugghhh…that’s excruciating! Glad you could fix it, but it is a kick in the teeth to have to “make” it work

Ugh! I wish I had seen this two days sooner!!!
Oh well, I would prefer to take Delta anyway…

For those looking to purchase southwest flights and have a chase card, I see there is a new 5% back offer right now until the end of July. You must spend a minimum of $50 and maximum cash back of $20.

I’m curious to know which card you are seeing this deal with. I booked a SW flight this week - but - I’m not seeing it on my Chase Sapphire

Chase Sapphire. It might be because I purchased Southwest flights in June. I’m new to the card so I wasn’t sure if the deals are typically universal.

So a weird thing…

I was doing my daily checking of my fares for drops.
I get to my Oct 26 fare, which yesterday was showing as no change, and instead of the normal “pick one of these other flights at this cost difference” I get a weird screen that says there was a disruption to their schedule and they have rebooked me on a new itin but if I don’t like it I can pick one of the others.

Only it doesn’t show the afternoon nonstop flight.

The afternoon nonstop flight is what we are booked on, and it shows as purchaseable if I do a book a flight.

It seems they might have changed the departure time by about 5 minutes. And the fare is like wicked cheap now (I started out paying $188 and it’s showing as $139). So why won’t it let me pick that afternoon nonstop at the new low low price?

I suppose I can cancel what I have booked and rebook… but I risk those “selling out” before I can complete the transactions. It feels like a trap.

What would you do?

When you click on the rate, does it say how many are left? It usually will say if there are 5 or fewer left. If that warning isn’t there, may be worth risking canceling and rebooking. I might choose to call Southwest first though if you are worried about it.

it says 5

I need 3

What if it’s a trap!

Yeah that is odd. I have rebooked the same flight before when it dropped. No cancelation required.

This may sound stupid, have called them to see if they can do the adjustment for you?

Call. My flight home from Disney cruise in October went from $230 to $161 and it would not let me change on line. Had to call. Didn’t take too long…relatively speaking, especially for the points I got back for three flights.

I think it is because they made a very minor adjustment to the time, and rebooked from what I originally booked. It feels like a shell game.

I guess I’ll call from home later.
