Saratoga Springs Resort Questions

My parents live next to a park that is a popular sledding hill during the winter. One time I was there with my friends and we saw a group of college students commandeer a metal table from the pavilion and used it to sled down the fairly steep hill. Things were going ok until the slope leveled out. The long table did not take kindly to the change in grade and flipped over, sending the idiots hurtling into the air. One busted his head open. :man_facepalming:

:grimacing: We never flipped. My grandparents lived across the 2 lane road from the levee. We would do this often in early winter. I have no idea how we never hurt ourselves or hit the trees at the bottom! When the frost would come we used cardboard to ā€œsledā€ down. Oddly I never saw ANY other people sliding down the backside of the levee.

We used to sled down a steep hill in our front yard when the snow cover had iced over, down past the house and into the woods. To this day I have no idea how we never hit any of the trees.

We grew up on the side of a mountain - lots of canyons to play in or - town side, steep sidewalks.

We did the wagon rides down the sidewalks and also on roller skates. Also took our sleds into the canyons to sled.

Talk about thrill rides. I have wondered how we escaped serious injury. Possibly because we’d have been in trouble if we got hurt.

Are there luggage carts in the buildings at Saratoga?

In December 2020 we were told there were none cuz of covid.

Are they still not in the buildings?

Hmm. I don’t recall seeing any when we were there…at least not the buildings we stayed at. But maybe they have a place for them out of sight?

In 2015 the carts were near the elevator.

In 2022 we flew to Orlando and SSR bell services brought us and luggage to our room.

We’re booked at SSR in May. Guess I’ll call.

They do not like guests using luggage carts on their own. My sister and I were scolded when we quite innocently were using one. I think you’ll find that you can’t find them

They want to move the luggage for you

Does this mean when we pull up to SSR in our car we’re to call bell services?

When you pull up in the Porte corchere (?sp) they will be there with carts and will take the luggage for you, yes

They haven’t offered to do that other times we’ve driven to SSR.

I’ll be sure to say, obtw, we need bell services service.

Have stayed here several times, though not with a car. During the day, the parking areas area all empty to 33% full. Mornings and evenings maybe 50-75% full.
If I didn’t want to walk to the main house/pool (usually stay in Carousel or Paddock) then I just hopped on the bus and got off on the last stop. Though yes, that means you’re walking back. The springs parking area (where the purple oval is in your pic) is the lot you’d be able to park in, I think they control parking closely at the far north lot of the springs area.

When we were there (a few years ago now…maybe 3?) it was a valet lot and drop off/pick up area.

I’m staying here in mid-July for the first time. Not with a car though. Just wondering if anyone stayed in a building there that they wouldn’t recommend? I believe we’re not a preferred view so I guess Springs and Congress are out.

When I get to making a room request, I’m trying to balance distance to bus, pools and main building/boat launch for walking purposes. I’m assuming it will feel like we’re walking on the face of the sun…

I’m hoping for a room in the Paddock section, which has its own pool and bus stop, so that might be a good fit for you as well. I’ll report back on how we like it. :+1:

Why? It isn’t really any different than driving to a park. I like Orange garage and I go up to a higher level and park near the elevator/escalator bank that is near security. There is always lots of spaces on the higher levels.

This one is mostly CM parking btw

Just realized this is an old thread :woman_facepalming:

If it makes you feel any better…I agree with you. The DS parking garages are possibly the least stressful parking garages ever!

Driving to a park stresses me out!

If I lived nearby and could do it once and get comfortable with it, I wouldn’t feel as anxious. I’m spooked by even the most innocuous new experiences.
