ROL Updates and STRONG Rumors

I think the reason that everyone thinks ROL is associated with the event on the 20th is that it is being held in a park and no park ticket is required which means an event in a closed park?

I haven’t heard anything else either. I was just at the park last week though and noticed that throughout the day, people were going back and forth on small boats to work on the several projectors and other show props scattered around the water. I would assume we’ll see something by the end of this week or early next week.

OK a new round of mixed messages. Apparently they ran a full show late last night for Disney Execs, so that would indicate that it’s close to ready. Other reports are there are still some technical issues and the opening may be ā€œpushed backā€ - although this comes from a less reliable source. I think it’s just a breath hold until this weekend to see what happens.

Follow-up to the previous post. Someone who saw the preview said ā€œit was like world of color with louder audio and animalsā€. They said it was beautiful and it worked." Maybe good news…

From what I’ve read, not only was there no ROL preview for D23 attendees, but it wasn’t even mentioned by Disney the whole weekend. That doesn’t bode well IMO.

That is exactly what I’ve heard as well. The ā€œin-park special eventā€ was free admission to the MK, an FP for Jingle Cruise, and a Marvel Comic Book version of the Tiki Room (I’m not making this up). Complete question marks all around regarding when it might premier…

Oh no. I was hoping to make a fast pass tomorrow for ROL. Looks like that’s not gonna happen. Boo hiss…

Just when I gave up and started making other plans for the evening of our AK day …

If they are having the cast previews this weekend, when do they typically open these things to the public?

There has been a lot of ā€œchatterā€ (to borrow a term from the intel community) of a Dec 1st opening, but nothing ā€œconfirmedā€ - but the CM previews would be in keeping with that target date. It’s conceivable that it could open this coming weekend, but I think that might be more wishful thinking than anything…

Just to let you know how crazy this whole thing has been, last night there were rumors, from a sometimes-reliable source, that it wouldn’t open until next Spring, and might possibly never open due to technical difficulties. Following the rumor mill during times of a fact vacuum can be a crazy way to spend one’s time…

Now it’s changed to March 2017 with a disclaimer about not having any inside information… the plot thickens.

My usual sources are admitting that they don’t really ā€œknowā€, but an opening in December is still likely.

I would hope so. The cast member previews in 1998 for Animal Kingdom were 1 month before the park opened. And that was an entire theme park. I get that the technical side of the show is complex but I just don’t think they’d be doing cast previews if it’s not close to opening. So I agree about December - I think it’ll be a 1-2 weeks before Christmas.
Do you think they’ll have a media preview? In '98 they did one right before the park opened.

So has anyone heard if the preview took place yesterday and if so how did it go?

The CM preview is scheduled for tonight (Sunday). Everyone’s waiting with baited breath… I have ā€œcontactsā€ who will be there, so I’ll report anything I hear.

I’m hearing that there was a technical glitch about 7 min into the show and they had to stop. They did a reset and apparently finished the run. Twitter reports are that it got a standing ovation… still following…
