That is so adorable!
Based on some of the interactions I’ve had, they definitely do. You seem like a pretty cool guy. Thanks for sharing your pics.
Yes! I was going to comment about this on your original post but didn’t want to take away from your story.
I am so impressed with the way the non-face characters can make you feel so strongly, even if you think you don’t want to be moved!
I had a solo DLR trip with a Plaza Inn character breakfast. I booked it to get in the park 50 minutes early. I felt VERY awkward interacting with the characters, mostly wanted to watch.
Then Mary Poppins’ penguin plopped down at my table and started cleaning it up while making clicking noises at me. And wouldn’t leave. I love that penguin.
Here are some kid pictures over the years…
Dd (now 20) on the morning of her 7th birthday devouring her chocolate mousse slipper (and ignoring the $$$ breakfast) during our our mom and daughter trip. Our trip in 20 days is again just the two of us. I texted her to ask if she wanted to go back to have breakfast there and her reply was “Uh, Yeah.” It wasn’t in my original plans so I am leveraging the Reservation Finder and hoping we can repeat our visit (although I am not ordering her another chocolate mousse slipper!).

7th birthday before breakfast.
After breakfast she rode Space Mountain in her Cindy dress. Just the perfect dichotomy of little/big girl. It really was just a magical trip.
Dd’s 17th birthday at MK After Hours. She was Disney Bounding Belle (we had an early dinner at BOG that night).
This was ds’s first trip (he is now 15yo) at 2yo. We were still 4 years away from his autism diagnosis but we had a really successful trip just following his lead. When dd was little we visted prepared w/ a “leash” but never needed it. She was quite happy to hold our hands or walk w/ us. Ds showed us early on that he was a bolter so we invested in his monkey backpack and it was a godsend. It gave him the ability to explore w/o us losing him anywhere. It did however make him look like he was wearing lederhosen in all of our photos! Note the sneakers were Lightning McQueen. Ds had a HUGE fascination with both Thomas and Cars. There is a distinct possibility I could still recite the dialogue from Cars over 10 years later! Ds spent that trip holding various Thomas trains in each hand and dropping to the ground wherever we were to lay there and play with them.
Ds LOVED the musical performers in Africa. In this photo he is dancing with unbridled joy. This is one of my most treasured memories. It may also be the last time I got everyone in the family to wear matching shirts.
I will also point out the yellow mark on his right sock is a silicone bracelet I had made for the kids before that trip. It is embossed with “If lost Call Mom …” and my cell number AND “If lost Call Dad…” and dh’s cell number. Ds’ bracelet was a bit big on his arm and I was afraid he would take it off so we put it on his ankle before putting on his sneaker and it stayed there all day.
After that trip we used those bracelets everywhere zoos, museums, fairs, beach, etc.
I think the CMs have to know else they wouldn’t be in the costume. I was talking to a CM one trip who was telling me about how long they are in character, how much longer it takes to put the costume on each time as the shift goes by.
Of course there are the occasional assaults.

I love that Coco shirt! And I agree that this is a great picture - everyone’s smiles are so natural … and infectious!
That’s hilarious!
The big question is … will she wear another Cinderella dress? ![]()
DD21 had a Cinderella costume for Halloween when she was 5 but broke her arm and the cast wouldn’t fit through the sleeve (it was not a little cap sleeve like your daughter’s dress) so she just wore the slip my mother in law had made to go under the dress instead. It was still cute.
Also DD21 had a leash when she was little as well. She has ADHD and had trouble just holding hands. Ours was a wrist leash - hers to mine - and she loved it because it gave her a little bit of freedom to roam.
Lastly, my grand-nephew age 3 has autism and is obsessed with Cars also. He loves the tractor tipping scene in particular and recreates that with their toy cars all the time. I am crossing my fingers we get to take our planned trip to DLR in February because he will LOVE Cars Land.
Once I hugged Pooh a little too hard. I expected there to be more padding. I felt really guilty about it for a long time. Still do.
Thanks!
DW has a history of walking into people when she’s excited.
It might be a blessing that they’ve moved the characters back behind protective barriers.
DH loves to chat with anyone especially boat folk. Here he’s showing the driver of the FW-WL-MK boat how to tie a bowline in a different sort of way.
We park DH on a bench in the area we’ll be in and this is one of his favorite benches. He would lose this cap in an hour or so on the first turn on Big Thunder Mtn. Disney let us down, uncharacteristically, by never finding this cap.
DH loves to eat at Cape May and Donald never fails to make a big deal over him. Not this trip but another one these two were cutting up so much I feared we all be tossed out.
I forgot one - Lady Tremaine telling DH what she wants for Christmas
Lady Tremaine at 1900PF is one of the absolute best character experiences in all of WDW.
Some of these are blurry because we’re have a good time. I think they’re all from the big birthday bash in 2019.
I am guessing the answer is no …but she does have a lot of HM and Marvel clothing to put together some decent Disney Bounding.
Cindy was dd’s favorite for many years (and then was edged out by Belle due to her love of reading). I think she is 2.5yo here in her Halloween costume. I couldn’t find shoes in her size so just like the real Cinderella, they were slipping off all over the neighborhood when trick or treating that year!
Ok messed up but will try again. This photo of my dad and I is from our 9-person family trip in Jan 2018 (so cold!) for my parents’ 50th anniversary. My parents hadn’t been in many years and had the best time. They’ve wanted to go back but Covid and health issues for my mom have prevented that. I’m so glad we took that trip
I love this picture! I have a picture of my dad on Dumbo with my younger daughter. I think she was 6. You cannot see her so it looks like my Dad is riding Dumbo alone!
I love it too! Thanks! I’ll bet that Dumbo photo is so cute!
