Polynesian DVC Expansion

How soon do you think construction will start on this?

No shot this is ready by 2024. None. Look how long it took them to build a friggin bridge/walkway.

I’m glad I got to see the SOA show when I did. Some impactful memories surround it. But yeah, I’d likely never see it again without a revamp anyway.

As far as a fifth gate, ain’t gonna happen either. Not during the Chapek/D’Amaro Reign, anyway. Sadly, no real reason to. You all already know why: far easier to lower crowds by just jacking up prices. Keep the “poors” out and that bottom line flush.

If crowds start dipping, keep interest by creating a new ride every once in a while, even if it’s carbon copy of what you have in another park (Tron, Remy, etc…). Or bring back some old favorites that suddenly look “valuable” (ie: the 24 hour park days).

That’s pretty much how I feel. I kind of expect to see some announcements in The coming several months…although I think they will be the return of things they cut, such as the SE overhaul, rather than anything actually new. Still, sprucing up (or replacing) Dinoland USA would be appreciated, in the very least. Maybe replace the Figment ride with something so that it actually draws crowds (effectively increasing capacity).

But, as the song says…to dream the impossible dream…

D23 is coming in September? I expect any “real” announcements will wait until then?

Probably. Seems right…just ahead of Epcot’s 40th.

Walt Disney Company’s 100th?

Looks awesome. Walkway in front of it and another pool, restaurant on top for fireworks viewing, and use existing parking, monorail, boat infrastructure. The Poly feel closer to the GF dining. I’m in.

Yes, but the walkway wasn’t going to bring them in any additional monies.

On this week’s Disney Dish Len points out that the WD corp has the economy of a small country (similar to Venezuela) and thatbif they wanted something built, it would get built fast. And if they don’t care? Then you are poor Tron.

That’s right I remember that remark now.
Which is downright maddening. Epcot: The Construction Capital of WDW For Ten Years Running.

Maybe it comes down to attendance being where they want it right now? So they don’t need to entice people into the parks, even with the construction zone (though I agree beefing up AK would be a good idea to increas capacity, not that I want more people in AK).

But DVC is just money in the bank, so it is a top priority.

I think they flipped VGF to solve the issue that GF wasnt booking at the flagship price point. (Conference GF prices are $289 a night!) So the best way to keep all resort prices inflated was to reduce cash capacity at GF.

Poly feels different, but I am sure they want that sweet $$$

Us too!! My kids LOVE Poly but I love my family much more when there’s a door between us when we sleep.

I saw this earlier and meant to post it. As much as I’m not a fan of the bland design, I’m excited for these new rooms to be added to inventory, which in theory (along with GF) should make booking all room types a little easier, at least until all the contracts are sold.

I’m just excited that we may get to stay at the Poly in a 1-bed, finally.

I’m not sure if he have another thread on this, but this was the only one I could find. Some updates on the building process from Mickey Views’ latest video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vi4Tfh5D2as

it’s looking pretty MASSIVE next to the Poly buildings :confounded:

I have seen it in person and it doesn’t look so bad as pics make it seem

I am looking forward to it being more “fleshed out”

This is where I am - it could definately go both ways. Is the finish more Waiki beach. Or Aulani?

I guess the concept art is a mix…
