Poly Tower Opening

If you buy resale at one of the new restricted resorts (DLV, FW Cabins, Riviera) you can only use the points at the resort you bought into.

Yikes, that makes it so much worse even than I thought.

Agree that this is one of my favorite aspects of Poly. I consider it to be a MK and EP reosrt! Honestly, I am not sure I will feel the same about the Tower.

Yeah, I agree with @WildernessLodger - while Disney thinks the restrictions are to Disney’s advantage, it will ultimately hurt the brand.

It will be rather more of a hike to the TTC

As it stands now, only the current DVC buildings are close enough to TTC to consider it a convenient walk

Agree 100% that re-sale restrictions are in fact bad for the brand. My biggest problem with it is it will eventually down the road it will impact all reservations for owners of the origial 14. Competion is already a thing but as more and more re-sale is restricted rooms will be more diffucult to get…for example DTR & RIV resale restrictions have it so they can only book DTR & RIV. Those resorts will be pretty much full as those owners have no where eles to go. They either have to stay their using there points or renting them during the priority.
IMO as a OKW owner if i wanna stay in those resorts its gonna be next to impossible in the near future.

That said i wonder if the new tower will have its own transportation stops…gotta admit i havent looked but has anyone figured out how far the walk wouldbe from tower to say the monorail, boat launches and or buses at the main house?

That has never been part of the plan. They are going to be reworking the bus depot to be central, but no additional ferry or monorail service is in the works

So at this point if I wanted to try & book and I say head to a park other than walking only option is to drive?

No. You can walk to the Great Ceremonial House (right next door, not far) and get the monorail, to the marina (same general vicinity) and get the ferry, or the the bus depot (a little further) and get a bus.

There isn’t no transportation, there just isn’t transportation for that building alone. It’s kind of similar to BLT or BRV in that way. Just another building on the same property sharing amenities with the original

It seems from looking at maps it may be a bit of a walk from the tower area to main building for transportation.

  • pretty sure someone in this group must have walked over to sneak a peek :face_with_peeking_eye:…
    Any idea of distance

Are you familiar with the layout of Poly? It’s not super far to the GCH. Maybe 5 mins walking slowly.

I would say that you’re no further from GCH than you are from bus stops at Kidani or Jambo from some rooms!

I would agree it’s a bit of a walk to the bus depot (which is why they are reconfiguring and centralizing that - due for completion in 2026)

We have only exchanged into poly a handful of times…and only into Moorea, so TTC was easier walk than valet.

I have been completely out of the loop since my trip back in June, which feels like a different lifetime ago. After staying at the Poly, I was convinced I would buy DVC there. And with resale prices being so high, I’ll probably go direct. Ironic timing since I just checked into this today and sales are beginning tomorrow, lol! But since I’ll be first time owner, I have a few weeks to figure out what I want to do (if I actually want to buy Poly direct).

For now - can I get clarification that the new tower and original Poly are same DVC resort? So buying a new contract direct will not be a part of the crappy resale stipulations? I’ve just started reading up on everything and I’m confused about this part.

Yes! There are no resale restrictions on Poly! Also, if you are really going to purchase you should get a referral from a current owner for a slight discount (the owner gets a dining credit).

This!

Thanks, I’m just really surprised they are not making the Tower a separate entity altogether to continue their resale-manipulating shenanigans.

Data guy has arrived! It’s about the same distance from the new tower to the GCH as it is from the furthest existing building – about 1000 feet. It’s closer to the Resort Launch but further from TTC.

That’s also comparable to being in the furthest room at AKL Jambo.

As I said

I tried to map it with mapmyrun but because of the construction it wouldn’t let me go from the tower area to the GCH. It was forcing me all the way around so I gave up.

Are you using Google Earth for those measurements? How do you get the tick marks and distances labeled between points like that?

Google Maps. If you right click any spot on the map, you can select ā€œmeasure distanceā€ and then add additional points with each left click.
