Park hopping at any time available starting Jan 9

Oh wow! How are they changing DAS? My son needs this and we are using for our trip in May. Unless this change will further in the future (still curious tho obvi). You think they pulling genie+ change permanently or just for time being until after DAS is fixed? Appreciate all your insider info!!!

Absolutely no clue about the DAS changes, or what’ll happen with G+.

They changed their minds constantly in the run up to G+ and have made changes to it several times since. So nothing would surprise me right now.

The current rumor is offloading the DAS system to the same company that Universal/Six Flags uses.

Ahhh I know nothing about theirs. Do you? I’ll google but hope it’s still easy and user friendly

Omg six flags?! They require proof of Diagnosis and paperwork and you have to buy it?! No way is disney doing this. I’m looking up universal now

Wait it’s so confusing someone dumb this down for me on six flags DAS page it says buy now on top but think it’s short cut for tickets and it doesn’t explain a thing except on how it works other than paperwork crap. I’m getting. Annoyed

Exactly. The entire system is really much more complicated than it needs to be by doing this.

It confused the snot out of me that I stopped trying to figure it out.

Hahahah the snot :joy: and yes, I give up and hope this doesn’t roll out anytime soon bc I don’t need the headache

I think the part they want to adopt is having third-party verification. But they are waiting for a lawsuit to settle with another theme park that uses the same third party (I think it was Six Flags?). Anyway once that lawsuit is resolved, Disney will determine how to proceed with DAS and then they can implement any changes to Genie+.

Oh man I hope the law suite takes 5 years or sirs to have the outcome disney was hoping for so they don’t implement any changes at all lol

All I know for sure is that Disney are concerned by the increase in DAS usage, about 30% of LL capacity.

So they presumably want to tighten the eligibility criteria &/or impose more limitations on it’s use (eg you have to use your prebooked ones before booking more, cut the size of parties down etc).

And, sometimes, the prebooked ones are only available in the evening. At that point, the math says don’t even bother.

They’d have to think about the details obviously. The 2 hour rule could be used.
It was just an example of a limitation that they might use.

This is exactly what I was here to say / confirm. Yes, it is with Six Flags (My former employer!! :innocent:)

@qtpie983

The point of the third party verification is to limit the large number of people that currently abuse the system. Sadly, it’s gotten a bit out of control. You can “technically” only take six people on one DAS, but CMs at Guest Services will add a second or third DAS to a group so that their entire party of 10 - 20 can all use DAS. They’re not allowed to ask at the park about your disability, so just giving away DAS is the “solution”.

BTW - I do have a disability - my right left got destroyed in an accident at work in 2016. I “could” use DAS, but can still move around fine for a few more years. I see how people abuse DAS in large numbers. I don’t want to be apart of the problem.

I’m 100% OK with doing a verification and think we all should. There’s no shame in being disabled and no reason you can’t just prove it. If you have a disability you’ve been to the doctor at some point. You must have the paperwork/proof of your diagnosis. :innocent: I have all my paperwork from the accident/recovery/insurance/worker’s comp…

IMHOpinion - The people that don’t want to verify are the ones that want to abuse / “game” the system. These parks will bend over backwards to accommodate you and allow you special privileges. All they ask is that you prove you really need them and aren’t exploiting their assistance…

Oh my goodness…is it okay to ask what happened?

Oh yeah! It’s fine!!

So, I got into a minor car accident. My right leg got sprained. I got a note from a doctor saying, “He needs 3 weeks off.” The company owner said, “No. I’ve got A LOT of very heavy office furniture I want moved this week. Also, Larry has to do it solo because I didn’t arrange any help for him!”

I told my supervisor that I was physically unable to do it and had proof. (Plus, she knew about the car wreck)

She responded (in a written e-mail) I’d be fired if I didn’t do what he wanted. So… I did the work and my leg went from sprained to severely strained - barley able to walk and so miserable with pain!

Side Note - We have a koi pond and a bridge that you MUST cross in order to enter the building. In 2016 it looked like this!

As “Facility Director” I had received and submitted YEARS of complaints and repair requests for this bridge. So many people had complained that the bridge was falling apart and covered in slippery slime from the pond when it overfilled. I had made a few complaints on my own behalf as well. For YEARS I got told be the owner (in writing) - “It’s not a priority / I’ll fix it myself ‘some weekend’ / We’ll get to it eventually”

In one e-mail, directly from me about 3 years before the next big issue that I’ll explain happens, I wrote - “Is it going to take someone getting really hurt before we do ANYTHING??”. The owner replied, "I’ll get to it “soon”.

Back to the story…

So, it’s the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. I’m hurting in my leg more than I can explain. I’m so sad and miserable. The owner is telling me, “Go hang up Christmas lights & décor outside .”

I explain how hurt I am and how I’m not supposed to be doing any of this & my issues are getting WORSE! I’m told to do it or else… (in a written e-mail)

I start to do it when I’m going across the bridge and slip. It’s a slip that a “normal” person might have been ok doing. However, with my leg injury everything inside my leg exploded! Every tendon, hamstring and anything attached to the muscles in my right leg below the knee tore off. It dropped me to the ground. I’ve been told, by the doctors & nurses, it’s like getting shot. It hurt so bad!!!

I crawled back inside and my supervisor told me I couldn’t go home because she has a Thanksgiving flight / travel planned and was leaving early that day (again - in a written e-mail)

So I sat there and waited to leave, in tears… Once I got home my wife rushed me to the ER…( I still don’t remember how I managed to get to my car and drive home. It’s all a blur of blacked out pain. I just remember collapsing as she, literally, pulled me out of my car so she could put me in the passenger seat of her car.)

All of this is why I have such an “easy” job now! My wife & I gathered all those e-mails. I asked work friends to log in at my desk & forward everything I had saved. (I save EVERY e-mail / document - so I had YEARS of neglect about the bridge and a pattern of behavior showing they didn’t follow the orders of a doctor and coerced me to work under threat of termination)

My wife went up to the office while everyone was away at Thanksgiving. She took photos of that bridge and the other ignored building issues / hazards.

Then we took all that to one of the biggest personal injury / workers comp lawyers in town.

My supervisor was who they made the scapegoat. They fired her (which is fine as she sucked)

I got two years of salary, along with a year of paid worker comp, paid surgery/doctor visits/medicine/physical therapy on this leg for life.

I could’ve gotten a lot more and the lawyers really wanted that!! We worked out a deal where I could stay employed and have “tenure” + more income / PTO. (since I wasn’t allowed to take time off when really hurt!!) So, now as long as I don’t have any attendance issues, don’t show up to work drunk/high or steal anything I’m going to be paid to be here until I retire - watching YT all day and talking to everyone on TP!! :innocent: :innocent: :innocent:

It took three procedures to get it fixed and I have an implant in my leg. I went to a year of PT, but had to keep doing it at home for another six months after the insurance company got stubborn about paying for it before I sued.

I know it’s a good “deal”, but if I’d rather have my leg back and none of the chronic pain. I’m used to it hurting / being stiff / sore, but it’s still annoying!

That’s simply…awful!!!

Yeah… it sucks! I know a lot of my friends joke about how easy my job is and how they’d love to be like me. I tell them to try spending a week just living with my “good” days of my leg issues and then let me know if that’s a deal they’d still want!!

It is what it is. I can’t change it, so I’ve learned (with therapy) how to deal with it & be as content as I can about it.

It’s degenerative. I will need cane and/or a walker some day. My leg is a big reason I walk so much now. It stays “loose” when I walk 5 - 8 miles a day. It stiffens when I lay around too much. Plus, if I get too fat I can’t walk. So I always have an “alarm” built into my leg that lets me know when I’ve been too lazy & stuffing my face too much!!

EDIT - The bridge STILL isn’t fixed. so many loose / broken boards. All they did was pressure wash the slime off it!! Plus, I no longer have a supervisor of any kind. I just report to the company president whenever I feel like or if he has a question - which is rare. (The owner retired after the pandemic. Thank goodness!! He was even worse than my old supervisor!!)

The fact that I’ve read so many of your TRs and had no idea that you struggle…just shows what a great attitude that you have. Amazing.

I don’t think I’ve ever read anything more grossly negligent than the events that make up your story…And the idiots put all of that in writing (luckily)…I’m just mostly speechless. Except to say, this is one piece of litigation that I am so glad this employer lost!!! Absolutely senseless.
