When you finally ride it - ride it at night if you can!! ![]()
This makes sense but I don’t see that happening. I think Tiers at the other parks are here to stay. I would love to be proven wrong though.
Additionally, we have only ridden 7DMT one time. Too short a coaster for too long a line. We don’t rope drop (well there was that one time at HS). And I have always found different LL/ FP+ priorities. Maybe when DGS is tall enough to ride. I do LOVE that area at night. And AS is becoming one of my favorites.
And with advanced booking, I guess we will have to purchase Genie+ ahead of time. Will it be a ticket add on (like for full ticket length) or will we have to buy it individually for each day but well before the 7 day preselection time? Seems like another complicated decision, but I won’t complain about that b/c getting up at 7 am day of and having no idea if you’ll get the LLs at a good time was too stressful for me.
ETA: if we buy ahead and purchase for park X, what happens if that day, we decide to go to park Y instead? With no park reservations required, it’s easy to change plans, but will it be easier to switch your Genie+ purchase/price? Am I overthinking here?
I’m just waiting for the call from Disney where they consult me on my opinion on how they should do things…

This is my concern especially with EP and AK. Not enough would be tier 2 to make it worthwhile.
If they dropped the ILL’s and made them Tier 1 I can see them adding 1 or 2 more to the list. But that will never happen. I’m guessing at EP Remy’s, Frozen and TT will be Tier 1 and KS, EE and Navi will be Tier 1 at AK. There isn’t anything left that really needs an LL.
But Disney really likes that double dip.
EP LL - GotG
EP T1 - Remy, Frozen, Soarin, TT
EP T2 - Everything else
Does this still use genie+ time rules? Or can you go anytime you want? Or can you book anytime you want (not just the next available)?
Good question. I know it’s not ‘go when you want’.
I suspect it’ll be the same "Here’s your one choice for a return time’ that G+ has now. And my reasoning for that is that it’d be expensive to change that programming, and Disney doesn’t want to spend the money.
So with FP+ if you stayed club level you could buy three extra FP non-tier dependent ahead of time. Will they bring that back cuz I seriously moved into a club level room for this for DHS.
They do have the code for select a time though with ILL. Frankly I can’t see how they allow you to preselect three attractions without selecting a time.
I’m also fairly certain that the current G+ API has a property for time selection, although today it doesn’t do anything. @joelbruick, correct me if I’m wrong.
That’s right.

I BELIEVE the current G+ implementation was “hacked” from the previous FP+ code, which is why the API likely has it. Since FP+ had the ability to select a time, I wouldn’t be surprised if they left in the logic to support it for G+ as well…eventually.
It wasn’t G+ that was hacked from the FP+ implementation, it was park reservations. When Disney reopened the parks after the COVID shutdown, they repurposed the FastPass+ backend and API to do park reservations. G+ was a new build - it might have been based on MaxPass but I’m not sure about that… And I think the “select a time” property in the G+ API was added later, not at launch.
Ah. Okay. I knew it was something…just had the wrong “originating source”! Thanks for setting it straight.
It was a hard transition from free FPP to a pay for Genie + but I got over it because there were no tiers with Genie+. I found it valuable for MK and DHS. I never saw much value in Epcot or AK.
If they go back to tiers and I still have to pay the same or more then the value really goes down. I just can’t see paying for a tiered system.
Disney is learning all the wrong lessons from people’s dissatisfaction with Genie+. It’s so frustrating.
