Packing tips? Compression cubes?

I can picture myself zipping a bunch of clothes in there.
And then the “compression” zipper… just won’t budge. Because all of the dead air is still trapped in there.

I can see it will definitely compress things if that zipper closes and doesn’t break. But…

Oh yes, I will definitely be wrinkly.
In fact, I will tell DW “yes we need to order an app and dessert because it’s the only way to stretch the wrinkles out of my clothes”

Just ordered 4 sets…to replace the ones I can’t find a week before my trip :woman_facepalming:

Our compression bags are not air tight.

There are 2 zippers. One closes the cube after the garments are placed inside.
The second zipper snugs the top and bottom together.
Care is needed to keep the extra material of the cube out of the compression zipper.

We primarily use the compression bag for the kid’s gi for karate tournaments. The gi is heavy cotton that we want to remain stiff and wrinkle free. It’s possible to fold the top and pants once each. Placed carefully in the compression cube and zipped up, the gi doesn’t shift or wrinkle.

It’s been better than the garment bag we’d been using.

This. Mine are breathable nylon and also have a mesh 'window" if you will

Yup

That mesh window is nice after a tournament!

I also have had no luck with the space saver bags with a valve. I think they are best used for very lofty items like down jackets or blankets or things like that.

I’m tickled pink  I have enabled some of you to buy cubes! Happy organized and wrinkle free travels!

I have trouble zipping the compression zipper. It just means I have too much stuff in the cube! And the compressions cubes are lumpy to me.

My friend used those when we went to DLR earlier in the month. While she got a lumpy robe into a small log, all I saw were plastic bags when I looked into her suitcase! She sorted tops, bottoms, undies, socks, etc into different space saver bags. Plastic bags take up space. And it is such a hassle to open and close all those plastic bags everytime.

I’ve used these for bring home dirty vacation laundry

I used no vacuum compression bags for our last trip. 2 months of clothes and 2 foam pillows in a single carry on bag.

this is what I’ve used before too but it caused my bags to be overweight for airline scale. I now only use them for dirty laundry and blankets at home

And not this exact bag, but similar from Publix for laundry. I liked that it was collapsible for all the room transfers

Oh!

They didn’t weigh ours, maybe because they were carry on or because it was United. The lady who offered to help take down my bag when it wasn’t over my seat DID complain about how heavy it was. I just thought DH was being dramatic

I keep those in my suitcase  I have two, one for lights and one for darks; I’ve trained my guys to sort as they go along

My plan is to make stacks for each cube, but not put them in until the last minute. Hopefully I’ll find my other cubes before I have to leave for the airport!!

Couldn’t you borrow some cubes?
If I lived near you I would totally understand the “I own some but I can’t find them. Could I borrow yours?”

I found them! And returned the others :grinning:

I bought compression bags on a whim prior to my WDW trip. Mostly because I wanted to try them after being intruiged here on the forum. I was surprised to realize that I liked using one or two of the smaller compression bags in my park bag to hold ponchos, extra masks, shoecovers and the like. On cold days I used a small compression bag for hats and mittens too. Having that stuff consolidated and compressed made the park bag more organized.
