Hope not. I was being optimistic in my prediction, but in more realistic terms, I was thinking in the 60s.
Being in the 80-100 range would not only negate any savings, but make the possibility of using points for this a turnoff, and thus making the whole program a turn off as a whole.
Agreed love to know where this is coming from because potentially as an OKW owner cost of a new AP down to $940.5 and 2 renewals down $792 each - than I am definitely okay with the upgrade
Agree, and their reasoning in that comment is sound.
Which is why I donāt think the numbers make sense for Disney to do unless itās there as a feature they donāt expect anyone to actually use. And in which case, why use it in the selling strategy to an up charge?
Wonder if these are āleaked numbersā to test reactions? If everyone recoils, it magically becomes lower once itās officially announced.
Many of us know itās a bad idea to use points to book cruises, pay for non-DVC rooms etc. Yet people do.
Sure, some friends of mine rent out their points via one of the brokers and use the cash to book cruises.
But for some owners, even renting through a broker is scary. And maybe rather than selling some of their points, these same people would prefer to use the points they donāt need for trips to renew their passes.
I suspect some owners donāt want to sell so they can pass the contracts to children. Theyāve assiduously accumulated contracts to be able to do an even split.
And Iāve seen people adamant theyāre going to leave their contracts to their kids rather than have a discussion first about whether the kids want them .
So I am one of those that will not rent through a broker- years back I looked into it and 2 of the majors wanted access & passwords for DVC account. Big fat no for me, not sure if it has changed. with my sons wedding coming up for the first time I find I actually have points that we probably wonāt be able to use for this year and nextā¦so the AP option is definitely on my mind depending on the pricing discount for tickets but it would more than likely be a one-time kinda thing for us.
This seems very likelyā¦because why else hold off on the actual pricing? I found it odd that they announced the idea without any real specifics in terms of prices.
Sure. But it is always a game. Disney has to figure that, on average, they benefit more from the concept. If you (the general you) have the self control to ONLY use it as a way to save money, greatā¦but Disney is counting on the fact you wonāt.
You no longer need to give the main two brokers that info.
You make the reservation yourself in the name of the renter.
But I have seen people worried that the renter would be able to see your details or use your CC āon fileā, so I get it. For some people renting out their points just isnāt for them.
Funny story but the first time I considered renting my points privately I was so worried about it. I still have no idea why! In the end I went ahead and did it, and Iād do it again. But it seemed like a giant leap into the unknown.
Actually I think they are from unsold points that have already been declared, but Disney has not yet sold. Thatās why mine are almost always from Aulani.
We havenāt gone into OTU points for years⦠I think weāve banked at least a few every year since 2018. We also rarely ever use the lounges. If the AP for points was a low number then I could see that being useful (lol, that 28 points calculation is a real winner, since we just banked 27).
Hi, so I got the Membership Magic Beyond brochure in the mail today and it says that it includes Memory Maker for a 30 day usage window. I am not an annual pass holder (is Memory Maker included with an AP?). Now Iām wondering if I should pay the $99 for this because weāre going in May and I know I will probably want to purchase Memory Maker so it probably just makes sense to buy this for $99 right?
No, it is not included. I think it is $99 as an AP add-on, which lasts for the full year as opposed to 30 days. It does seem like it you were inclined to buy Memory Maker anyway, this offer would give you a savings. Plus whatever other potential benefits it may offer you.
