Leading Reservations for dining?

Thanks!

Due to a possible conflict with a family member’s Summer plans, I had to make a second
Disney World resort reservation just in case. The two reservations overlap by 4 days (July 4-7). If I make ADRs for the earlier package, and then end up cancelling, keeping the later trip package, will we lose the ADRs associated with the first package on the 4 dates that overlap the days that we will be there? Confused…

No. Once you make the ADR, it’s yours until either you go eat, or cancel the reservation.

So the second resort reservation would hold the ADRs after the earlier package is cancelled?

No. The ADR is held in your name in MDE. The only thing the hotel reservation is used for it to see if you are eligible to make an ADR. It’s not used for anything after that.

Thanks for clarifying

Anyone do this lately?

Yes, within the last month. No issues.

Yes, worked great and we got everything we wanted - including seats and treats for MK fireworks and Starlight Safari at AKL.

Perfect thanks!

Has anyone done a leading reservation for Disneyland? Shouldn’t be any different than one for a WDW resort, right?

For what purpose? I don’t think you get length of stay benefits for booking ADRs (someone correct me if i’m wrong.). And dining reservations aren’t always loaded on time anyway. I wouldn’t think it’s useful.

There are usually walk-up spots available for dining if you arrive right when they open. The only one I’d try to book ASAP is Blue Bayou.

@Jeff_AZ is right. There is no ā€œlength of stayā€ added for dining reservations, everything works as a 60+0. So at 60 days out:

Not necessarily ā€œleadingā€ but… I can’t remember… Are Tours eligible for 60+10 as well?

They are supposed to be, but they are run by ā€œEnchanting Extrasā€ and not dining. So they are supposed to follow the dining calendar, but they might hiccup and not release properly. Then again, they might release just fine.

When we did WAT it didn’t release 70 days out but it did release before 60 days out. I just checked every day and it was somewhere in the middle but I can’t remember when exactly.

Just as a counterpoint, I didn’t do a leading reservation for my upcoming stay. I was hoping for a Victoria & Albert’s reservation, and unsurprisingly, when I logged in at the 60-day mark, nothing was available. But later that day, I set up the paid version of Mouse Dining, so I could get text alerts.

And sure enough - not even 24 hours later, I got a text alert for a reservation that had opened up for the Queen Victoria Room at V&A, which is what I wanted most of all! And it only has 4 tables available on a given night, so quite a difficult res to get! But, I also had alerts set up for a few other things, and got a few alerts on those as well.

Granted, we’re a party of two - it’d likely be harder with a large group. But, just saying that not all hope is lost if you don’t get the res you’re looking for straight away!

Okay guys, I’m baffled. I have a leading reservation and have used it for all of my dining reservations except the last one so far. For some inexplicable reason, the Disney website (and app!) will NOT let me make any reservations for what should be the next available date. Yesterday, 7/7 reservations should have been available to me. Today 7/7 and 7/8 should be available to me. But nothing past 7/6 is showing up no matter when or how I check. Any ideas on what might be going on??? Everything else in My Disney Experience is still showing up.
