Leading Reservations for dining?

Just you is fine.

Has anyone tried cancelling their leading reservation at the opening of the 60 day window for the official reservation and had 60+ length of stay ADRs made with the leading stick? Or do they get deleted because they’re not in the public 60 days window? Asking because I’d like to try for a cabana at my hotel on my official 60+ opening (which will probably be sold out anyway) and do not want call Play Disney with two active reservations. Also, I’m assuming Disney keeps a record of all our previous rooms, the requests we made etc Anyone concerned about that? Thanks!

My understanding is that once you make an ADR, it sticks and does not get cancelled regardless of whether it is within 60 days or not.

That said, I also wouldn’t be concerned about having two reservations when making a call for the cabana. It’s not unusual to have two reservations for a similar time period. But if you want to cancel before calling, there shouldn’t be any harm in that.

Really?! wow, I would think they would have tons of off-site guests doing it then just to get the length of stay advantage? Huh not sure what I’ll decide now…thanks for info !

I think that most off-site guests don’t even know about 60 day bookings - let alone 60+10. Plus, not everyone has extra $$ to make a second deposit.

Also - lol - sorry this was responded to 8 days later

I was just toying with the idea of doing a leading reservation to get V&A but I just can’t get myself to do it. I have a split stay. I feel like if Disney is going to do the +10 rule they should figure out a way to combine split stays in the system if they are consecutive. It feels unfair for me to potentially stop someone from booking a hotel they want so I can make a dining reservation but it also feels unfair that I might not get my dining reservation because someone else made a dummy trip to get it before I was allowed.

Don’t remember what it was before, but for vacations starting 2025, we have to cancel room only reservations 8 days before arrival to avoid penalty according to DisneyFoodBlog.

Oh, that’s what Len was talking about! In another thread, Len mentioned that the 8-day thing is likely in anticipation of a planned 7-day booking window for Genie+ reservations.

This is the plight a lot of ā€œrule followersā€ have had to deal with, especially reading this thread.

I ended up doing it for one trip only and while it was useful, I didn’t feel good about it so I stopped after that trip.

It’s like speeding 5 over the limit. ā€œEveryone elseā€ is doing it, but man it stinks when we get caught. (I had an agent on the phone be very judgy and demandy with my details for why I was canceling). Even though it’s not specifically against the rules, other people have said finding rooms in their desired rooms to be sometimes difficult.

I missed the thread. Wow…7 day G+ ressies…

Thank you for letting us know.

So would that mean they will open up Genie+ for pre-purchase again?

Yes I think they would have to. Maybe still one day at a time on a rolling basis 7 days before.

Cool! Just having my TA book a package for next year’s Feb Break - and I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on Genie+ since I’ll need it Presidents’ Week!!

What did you end up doing? I ask because next month is my ADRs and I will need to call for specialty cruise. I won’t call until I cancel leading. Wish I could have the leading since I am sure they’ll be booked up by then but too nervous :unamused:

I cancelled the leading the day my 60 day opened on my confirmed reservation. I called the next morning, not sure why I delayed, and all the cabanas were gone. I should have called right after cancelling but likely I think they were already gone ( I was looking for 60+4). I kind of have a suspicion luxury TAs probably do the full 10 day leading for clients, but I only base this on seeing someone use a TA that has a paid uncharge that assures they will get all your most wanted reservations and book them.

That is totally possible.
When we went I was the lead on a photo share which I had on a fake account. I also added my leading reservation there.
From the fake account, I could make reservations for my real account. The only trick was that I had to make the real me the lead on the reservation. Anyone that was a friend of the fake account and had the login info could make reservations at 60+10 for themselves and a few people in the photo group did so. If I remember right, no one got any almost impossible reservations, but it is nice to whenever you can get planning done.
So, a high volume TA could take care of all their customers that way.

Not helpful now, but maybe for next time. Make the real reservation under the name of another adult in the group and the leading under your name. Just put one person on each room until you’ve got all the reservations settled.

I’d sworn I wasn’t going to do this again, but since my next trip is planned for Presidents’ Week, I’m thinking I’ll probably need to. Especially given crowds that week this year!

Haven’t booked a leading yet, but I have the dates I’ll need to book all set. I’m kinda thinking I should do that sooner than later just so that it’s not obvious if they get wise to it (like booking it a few days before the booking window opens).

I haven’t seen any reason not to book it as soon as you realize you need it. Wait too long, and all you might have is GFL and AKL to pick from :person_shrugging:

Disney doesn’t seem to be as worried about dining as they are G+ passes.
