I let DD11 sleep this time, so I didn’t have to hear her complaints. She thinks I create unnecessary anxiety over the whole BG process.
Here is a replay of one of our practices:
Mom, this is stupid
How is this stupid, don’t you want to ride RoR?
Yes, but you don’t need me to get a BG, and we don’t need to “practice”.
We do, we have to follow all these steps if we want to ride
Says who?
Bebe
Ugh, this is a waste of time!
[Me realizing there is no reasoning with her]: look, you are right, this is probably a waste of time, but it’s important to me. Can you just help because it matters to me, even if it makes no sense?
Fine!
(I love her, I know this is just normal pre teen behavior hahah )
My five year old did not like it once it started. I had her hand her glasses to me so at least things would be fuzzier. Then I told her to either close her eyes or just look at me. 4.5 minutes is a long time for a little who doesn’t like what she’s experiencing. But she was brave. She’s really proud she survived it but has no plans to return. We also heard of another family on our trip where one of their party screamed the entire time. I’m sure it wouldn’t be anything new if your daughter did freak out. You obviously know her best, but I say if she wants to try it, let her.
