DVC You There! - Now with Bonus Content

That 2-night !469 Kidani studio is still out there this morning!
About 28 rentals dropped in price overnight and NONE of them have gone below median.

New: 4-night GF Studio start 7/28 for $396 or 24% under median.
There have been a nice batch of these in June and July 2024 so far.

My first thought on this BRV studio was it is not a great price yet - but when looking at the chart for rentals 2-nights or longer it is pretty good, & actually among the lowest priced for rentals 7 nights or longer!
7-night BRV Studio start 8/17 for $365/night or 12% under median.

Another case of increasing in price after 2 weeks on the market - AND adding a day to the reservation while keeping the same rental ID. Annoying.

ETA: Another taking away a day while increasing the price after a few months on the market…

Yes because it’s not the same rental! (in details at least)

I wonder if these type of listings had the wrong details to begin with and needed to be corrected. But in that instance you should just delete and start over. But maybe they don’t because can’t you “watch” a listing on some of these sites? I feel like I’m able to get notifications on listings from a few of the dvc rental sites.

It’s hard to tell if they are corrections or changes and they don’t bother creating a new rental on their site.
They all definitely have to fix errors at some point - I have 2 rentals now that have bad end dates (2025 instead of 2024) making the rental look like, for example, they are 369 days instead of 4 days - which then mucks up the per day cost calculation.

I have error checking watching for rentals with prices and dates out of bounds, but a lot of the time they never seem to catch on on fix them. :man_shrugging:t2:

In the grand scheme of things these are probably a tiny, tiny percentage of all the rentals so aren’t messing the any median crunching etc. But there have been rentals on some of the sites that didn’t just change a part of the reservation - they used the same Identifier on a whole new rental. (e.g. Jambo to GF studio)

When that happens, it makes my sheet think that, say, a $230/night Jambo rental suddenly jumped to $400 etc. I usually catch them eventually.

not sure if this the right place to post this…but I know several people monitor this discussion for great dvc deals, I have a close friend that is DVC member and due to some mismanagement of points on his part, he ended up with points expiring soon. anyway, he was able to secure two night beachclub one bedroom for two nights, arrival Monday Feb12 2024 and departure Wednesday Feb 14 2024…it is Mardi Gras week and I thought I could find someone local to rent it, but not having any luck. He said he would be ok with me posting here to see if a TP liner would be interested. $500 per night, total of $1,000 paid to him directly via paypal. Is there anyone interested?

That is either a big mistake or laziness. I’d have to lean towards mistake. But, that don’t help us none!

I would love to escape MG but that’s too rich for my blood at the moment and flights are crazy expensive out of MSY (i’ve tried to work it any which way I could). I would suggest he post on the DVC rental and sales FB pages too. A lot of private renters. He should get some sort of contract together if he doesn’t have one. People should want that.

yeah its killing me not to buy myself, because we also love to escape mardi gras, but its just not in the budget for me right now

I have found a cheap flight option Monday to Wednesday (or Thursday, can’t recall) but not a decent onsite rate. I’m an AP but DH isn’t. Heck, I’d just go to get out the city. But I’m going in 2 weeks and in April or May (whenever I can decided to around crowds). So travel $$ is tied up :sob:

For the record - using my data on recorded rentals for BC 1BR, this is a pretty sweet price.

The overall median using all rentals for this room is $765.

Looking at just the 14-day window surrounding that starting date, in 2023 the median was about $965 and this year is currently $858. Being a median, there were of course various lower and higher priced rentals than that amount for that room both years, but nothing near $500 in this time frame.

If this was 2 weeks later I would change my flights and snatch this up in a heartbeat!

Price drop: 3-night Hilton Head Studio start 1/29, originally $204, now $174 or 25% under median.

6-night Riviera 1BR villa start 2/7, originally $1,040/night, now $680 or 28% under.
The is the lowest 6-night or longer rental recorded for this room and is down among the lowest for any rental 2-nights or longer.

This one I caught a couple months ago was one of my favorites.

Come stay at Disney’s beautiful Polynesian resort where you’ll be transported back in time and feel like a kid again- no, not figuratively, literally!

I’ve updated the TP subscriber-only DVC Rental Deals page for your clicking pleasure.

Highlight:
A 13-day BW 1BR villa going for $528/night, or 26% under median.

All in, that 13-night rental would cost $6,867.
If booking directly from Disney for cash, the same room would cost $12,943.

Ran an early DVC data pull, only 2 new rentals, including a 1-night OKW on 1/21 for $149 (48% under)

Weirdly, the other new rentals is a 3-night CC starting TONIGHT listed for $333 or 15% under.

How do they think that’s going to work? Pretty small market for that one.

If it’s for today, can they even still cancel it to get points back?
If not, they should be closer to $260. A local might grab it at that price.
If they can cancel, I wonder what the cutoff time is?

I agree, should be priced MUCH lower! There were even several other CC studios this week already priced lower than this - one was 50% under median ($195.)
