DVC You There! - Now with Bonus Content

Exactly - everything in this project is in relation to dedicated DVC rentals posted on the rental sites.

My use of “Booking” is interchangeable with “renting”, but guess I should be shifting my brain over to using “renting” exclusively to avoid confusing DVC owners.

I thought I knew what you meant because I’ve followed along. But just wanted to make sure . :slightly_smiling_face:

Someone needs to do some marketing learnin’ - probably not a good idea to INCREASE the price 2 days after you list a rental when there is only a week until check in.

That’s weird! Maybe a similar listing sold at the $21 a pt and Daves got greedy.

Tbh, I’m not sure why they wouldn’t use your site to better price their listings.

BTW: Streamlined some things in my scripts and have gotten the time it takes to pull all the new data, clean it up, and crunch all the numbers way down from before - used to take a good 12-18 minutes depending on how much data I had.

Now: 4 minutes at the top end.

Might make it possible for me to run more pulls each day.
Have about 95% of it all automated, but still need to do some things manually, so will see how that goes. Still figuring out if there’s a better way to host the data than the Caspio service I’m using.

So, with a 4 minute process time, today I’m running the data grab every few hours just to see what rentals trickle in throughout the day. Another dozen appeared since the last pull a few hours ago, will post a few interesting ones below. But, I’m not uploading this interim data to the search engine - that is a manual process and probably takes me longer to login, grab the data and then update the header than the actual data crunch now!

Was a LOT nicer during the database trial when I had full access to all the features - all I had to do was have my macro export the data to a Dropbox or Drive file and Caspio would automagically import it.

Which is why I’m looking for an alternative - I am getting sick of uploading there, and of their interface. But, it does work and doesn’t have any search limits on even the free tier, so sticking with it for now.

How many times were you pulling data before vs what you plan to now? It will be interesting to see if any new patterns emerge. Like whats the confirmed reservation drop times

Most of the time weekdays I was doing mid to late morning and then after 5PM.
Weekends I ran it about 11am and after dinner, since they seem to wake up late.

At the start of the project I did spend some time running the pull multiple times per day, but at 2,500 active rentals, it really started making the amount of data my formulas had to run through struggle, so I scaled it back. Now that my formulas are much more efficient, I thought the same thing - do some of the rental sites have set times, or do they just add as they come in? Maybe we’ll see!
