For those who like curated lists of deals, I’ve updated the TP DVC Rental Deals page… interestingly we are at the highest number of multi-day DVC rentals 20% or more below median since I’ve started recording this data in May 2022.
Wow! The struggle with these is that September is so far away and with a no cancel policy it feels like a big gamble
$164/nt for a deluxe? Just crazy!! Wish k could take advantage. I’m looking for Sept dates but later in the month
I’m thinking if one was a regular traveler who held separate annual trip insurance, that might alleviate some risk.
Also one of the DVC rental sites includes a policy where I think you get a credit and/or other partial refund options if your have to cancel? I’ve looked at it once or twice but so far my brain hasn’t retained the details.
That’s a good point.
I’ll keep it in mind if dates that work for me show up
There’s always been talk back and forth about travel insurance and DVC. Since it’s a timeshare, some insurance companies won’t cover it, since it’s an “off the books” transaction.
David’s I believe has a fairly decent insurance policy regarding refunds on points.
There is one that is well known to DVC members. Specifically for use for DVC. Costs something like $80 for the year.
There were 2 that stood out my last shopping trip. I went with DVC rental store becuase they could actually get the Poly first week of December. They were the most expensive but with the best cancelation policy. I’m glad I did because as some of you know we ended up at AoA Nemo suite.
I had posted a couple of David’s DVC rental links a minute ago, but looks like the URLs and the room/price info were mismatched.
I have to pull the links for their rentals separately from the room details and sometimes that site’s data for the URLs just doesn’t refresh. Thought I had created a good workaround for forcing the refresh since it hasn’t happened for months, but looks like I need to go back to the old drawing board.
Forcing a manual refresh and updating the search engine in a sec.
OK, Back in business. Several good GF and Riviera deals in tonight’s batch. In addition to these, look for some GF studios at 20% under in June & July and more GF & Poly studios in Sept.
2-night GF Studio starting 1/30 for $357 or 32% under median.
Looking for a rando 1-nighter on 2/1? BCV Studio for $336 or 29% under median.
2-night Riviera studio starting 6/2 for $357 or 22% under
2-night GF Studio starting 6/8 for $410 or 21% under
2 more nice GF Studio rentals in July:
4-night start 7/13 for $394/night or 25% under median
4-night start 7/13 for $378/night or 28% under
Interestingly - the final 14-day window median for the same dates in 2022 and 2023 were $492 and $507, a full $80 more than the median is now for this upcoming July.
And, it is important to note that the medians tend to DROP as you get closer to the date and pass it, so unless something new is happening I’d expect that $420 median in July 2024 to be lower when we reach it.
Let’s go the other direction!
This just appeared tonight: 3-night BLT Grand Villa Theme Park View starting 12/23 for… $3,409/night or 28% OVER median.
That’s $10,227 total for a 3-night stay, kids.
There have only been 19 rentals for this room since start of project, and this is in the top 3 highest priced.
Now - it IS over Christmas and Theme Park View, so it has that going for it. ![]()
someone’s looking for a christmas bonus

It’s $21/pt which isn’t terrible? But a week away, and especially a high point rental, that’s going to be a tough sell.
It’s the going rate, isn’t it? Or even a little higher than average for some of the rental brokers. For last minute, this seems a little high. But also there cant be many of those rooms types (haven’t looking into it, just speculation). So maybe supply and demand
Would love to know if it gets rented. It’s a lot of points to lose if no one takes the reservation. (Assuming you lose them… is that how it works).
It kinda is for stuff about 7 months out. 11 months is a little higher. But 4 days away, that’s way too high.
I’m not sure what would happen to those points if the reservation gets cancelled. They go into holding?
Agree.
Time for a fire sale.
Yes, if the reservation is canceled the points are in holding.
Which isn’t bad if your use year is December, because you have til November 30 to use them, but if your use year is like February (is that a thing? I can never remember which months ARENT use years) then you’re screwed.
Points in holding have to be booked inside of 60 days (or is it 30?? anyway last minute in the DVC world) and if they are not used before end of use year they are lost. I don’t think they can be transferred out to another owner either.
Where is @Nicky_S when we need her?
Looks like you don’t need me @OBNurseNH !
Yep, points in holding can only be used to book reservations 60 days in advance.
And luckily before answering and getting it wrong, I did a quick search and found that you can actually transfer them but they would remain holding points after the transfer. Somewhat risky …… except of course we all know you can’t receive payment for transferred points.![]()
NEW: Batch of 4 similar Copper Creek Studios in September, all 23% or 25% under overall median.
When looking at my 14-day window medians for this room in Sept 2023, the median was around $330, so still well below for something posted 9 months out!
5-night 9/2 for $292/night
5-night 9/3 for $301/night
