DVC You There! - Now with Bonus Content

You’d think after about 3 months, they’d have noticed this 87 day, $33,542 listing by now.

I just tried sending a message through their booking form about it. sheesh.

Is there any rational explanation for why it would be a legitimate rental for 87 days? Or that they would leave it up even if they knew it was wrong?

Re: the 733 night one, could I sue them if they don’t give me all 733 nights for $676? :winking_face_with_tongue:

I think someone said once that 30 days is a max booking?

I can’t even tell what the fat finger data entry would be on that one. Maybe it is supposed to be 8 or 7 nights?

If so and the $33,542 was automatically calculated using the mistaken 87, then the nightly price is $385. An 8-night booking at that rate would be $3,085.

That is a supremely high per night cost, but far from unheard of in August - in fact the fairly even spacing of dots at that price point each year makes me think it is one of the sites’ “Ahh Screw it” price where they just drop listings in intervals on the calendar.

That’s unfortunate. I could have really gone for that price for 733 nights. Heck, two nights at that price seems good.

Feels a bit like playing Powerball refreshing twice a day for a room on 1/2/26

Only if you actually pay money, sign a contract and then they try to pull it out from under you

DVCShop increasing several more listings again today.

That SSR Studio jumping from $198 to $243 is especially painful.
The WAY overpriced OKW Studio dropping by $1 to a still way overpriced is humorous.

(BTW: in this context, I’ve always defined a “Cost Change” drop as a positive number because that seemed like what would most commonly happen, didn’t really think I’d see many increases. But I know that did confuse people. I’ve been thinking about if I should reverse that idea and make price drops negative and price increases positive to minimize people’s brain cramps.)

Finally something interesting today!

7-night BW Studio 03/15 for $357/night or 28% under median

Even when looking at all March BW listings 2-nights or longer, this is pure win…

For a 7-nighter, almost unheard of.

…and the last data refresh for 2025 has occurred… HUZZAH!

Here is the year end chart for active rentals: Ended the year about 35% fewer active listings today vs both the previous 2 years on this date.

I’ve added a new table to the right side of the chart (with tan header): Interestingly, even though 2025 trailed 2023 all year when it comes to the number of active listings each day, 2025 still had about 900 MORE total listings than 2023.

That surprised me - I’ll have to take a look and see what the factor is there - listings that were booked more quickly in 2025? Will see what the listing aging data says when I get a chance.

ETA: Adding the partial year 2022 listings (I started in May of that year),
I’ve recorded over 57,000 listings now.
To get there, I’ve pulled more than 6 million listing records.

My favorite part of each new month has been waking up and checking to see how many new listings there are 11 months out already. Right now I see 14 on December 1st. I know there are some contract owners that are certain they won’t be able to use their points so they’re trying to get some money back now, but come on… 14 already?

Most of the new postings the last few days are median and above - some way, way, above in times like end of August and Sept when you wouldn’t expect it! Guess they are just getting those out of the way this far out.

But, here’s a very last minute VERY NICE deal, my condolences to the folks who likely had to drop this only 3 days before check in.

7-night BW Studio 01/05 for $318/night or 19% under median

This is at the low end of the price spectrum looking at any number of days - but is very rare for a long 7-nighter.

Looking at 2-nights or longer:

Sold already. That was a decent one too.

DVCShop on a tear this morning - including posting 26 new multi-night listings all starting on 12/1/2026.

All are hovering over and under median price for the month - BUT several are Savannah view, so think need a little bit of analysis.

Picking the $416 price of one of the lower ones, it looks like this in the scheme of things:

But - that chart does not differentiate between room preferences (standard, value, savannah, gold plated commode), so the question is: Are Savannah view studios at median price in December a decent deal?

Well, there have been lower prices for December Kidani Savannah views in the past - but not many in the scheme of things.

There have been about 556 Savannah studios in total for all dates from 2023 to now. The charts below ONLY use Kidani studios listed specifically as Savannah view in the original room type.

…and if you’re going to catch a lower priced one, you’ll see the most right now at 11 months out, a smaller number at 175-185 days out (note, that is after the 7 month window opens!), then randos.

..and here’s how just Kidani Savannah view studios look vs all dates:

I personally wouldn’t be too worried about getting a custom reservation right at 7 months for Kidani Savanna at the beginning of December, as long as it’s not Thanksgiving weekend (which it’s not - Dec 1 is a Tuesday).

These rentals come out to $26 / point. For an easy reference, at $20 / point, that would be $320 / night during the week or $360 / night weekends. I think under $23/point should be doable even at 7-11 months out.

Also, I love lurking on this thread.

Price Drop! Don’t really notice many DLH price changes that are this nice.

4-night DLH Studio 03/01 orig $442/night now $374/n or 29% under median

Very rare pricing for this room in Feb:

3-night BC Studio 02/08 for $368/night or 23% under median

oh wow - I have checked frequently for a DLR room for our stay next week, and never saw more than a single night.
It is now too late to change my off property room. That is a really nice one for March!

Multiple identical room types for the same dates, at the same resorts, listed at roughly the same time, at the same price. I know there’s nothing definitive that can be gleaned from this, but it’s kinda hard to imagine that these rooms aren’t theirs that they’re off-loading for commercial profit.
