DVC You There! - Now with Bonus Content

Trying to follow what you mean here Jeff? Are you simply saying that buying resale points is even more economical than renting? Or am I missing your point?

Yep!

Economics:

Cash rooms: most expensive
Renting points: less expensive
Direct points: usually less expensive than renting
Resale points: typically least expensive

It is good. If it were just four days I’d be showing DH and hoping for his endorsement. I don’t need six days. And I just brought it up to Marie and she said - Mom I can’t take more days off work…

Boo.

Boooo - but glad she is responsible :innocent:

She just went to Scotland and Ireland for 12 days.
She also pointed out we plan to RD-close and would barely enjoy it.

1-night AK Jambo Studio 07/06 for $270/night or 19% under

Price Drops:

7-night GCali Studio 06/13 orig $507/night now $421/n or 30% under median

Seriously good price for this room in July for any number of days, for 7-nights: forget about it, Dave.

Looking at all dates for GCali 2-nights or longer - this is at the bottom. There has only been 1 listing 5-nights or longer that was priced lower.

5-night AK Jambo Studio 07/11 orig $346/night now $288/n or 14% median

I don’t usually post listings at around 14% under median in general, but when looking at all July listings for this room 2-nights or longer, you can see there aren’t actually a ton of them priced lower than this.

When you look at the price by days out for this month and room for 5-nights or longer - even though there have been lower priced ones, we are again talking a fairly small number, so I would not bet on getting luckier than this with a price. If I needed a longish AK stay in July, I’d jump on this, personally.

Moar Price Drops:

This pair identical except for a 1-day difference in start date.
Both first appeared at same exact time on Feb 7th as well.

7-night CC Studio 01/03 orig $367/night now $290/n or 27% under median

7-night CC Studio 01/04 orig $367/night now $290/n or 27% median

If you are comfortable booking a DVC rental 7 months out - very rarely gets better than this for a CC Studio, much less a full week rental.

NEW:
This one is a DO IT NOW, won’t last long:
4-night BC Studio 09/27 for $328/night or 30% under

2-night GCali 1 Bedroom 10/13 for $897/night or 18% under

$897 is literally the rock bottom price for an Oct multi-night for that room - see the multiple same listings to the right of this one:

2-night FW Cabin 01/05 for $416/night or 18% under

DVCRentalStore is having some site issues today, I’ve checked a few times and their dedicated listings are still not online - so I’ve refreshed all the others just now.

Only thing interesting:

2-night AK Jambo Studio 07/06 orig $308/night now $252/n or 24% under median

May have been due to the issues at Salesforce/Heroku. It was and still is, pretty widespread. Although things are coming back online.

And here I thought it was Disney smacking them with a C&D order.

This one is “only” 16% under median, which I think is a little light since the target audience for a 2 week listing is likely smallish.

14-night OKW Studio 08/28 for $239/night or 16% under median

Looking at all August rentals 2-nights or longer:

BUT: When you ratchet down to 7-nights or longer, only a small few listings lower priced in August.

Add 1 more night to that, we’re down to a single lower listing.
Since most nights in this listing are in Sept, I took a look at that chart as well, but essentially same comparisons.

ETA: Here’s how it looks compared to all dates, 7-nights or longer.

(You can see by the several horizontal lines of rolling >7-night listings in this chart that some sites love to book what to me, at least, look like speculative relatively high-priced dedicated rentals. Let’s see if those continue on if Disney starts enforcing that personal use check box.)

4-night DLH Studio 01/12 for $429/night or 18% under median

Interestingly, this room type and listing is one of the cases where the median really swings - that 18% under median is based on ALL listings for this room since 2023.

However, when just looking at January listings, it is actually slightly above median.

It is kind of par for the course as January listings go at the 200+ days out mark:

You can see that while you may see lower prices as you get closer to January check in dates - it is just not a high volume room type in dedicated listings.

If you just look at that last chart for 4-nights or longer, the number lower prices drops to about 5 since 2023.

When zooming out and looking at all listings - in the grand scheme of things, $429/night for a DL Studio is in the lower bands of the price range, so I think one might still think of it as a decent grab in January if you needed a 4-night stay.

Be sure to check the cash price, of course (which I have not done for this room type at all.)
