Here’s the relevant text from the article (I hate how they bury the lede):

Effective February 17 , face coverings will no longer be required for fully vaccinated Guests in both indoor and outdoor locations. Face masks will still be required on Disney transportation like buses, the monorail, and skyliner.

I am sorry but the KtP blog format drives me crazy.

The story:

Face masks will be optional for fully vaccinated guests at Walt Disney World Resort starting February 17 at both indoor and outdoor locations.

All guests will be required to wear masks on Disney transportation, including the monorail.

I used to really like KtP
Now I won’t click (and I have friends who write for him)

(of course I also won’t click the source you shared either LOL)

Jinx! Lol

Just want to say that I called it (OK for UOR, but still applies):

I was way off and thought they would wait til under 5’s could be vaccinated, but they probably see a tide happening around the country with the cases falling and mask requirements relaxed a bit and didn’t want to risk looking unreasonably strict to a lot of potential guests (though at the risk of upsetting other more cautious guests). Like others have said, if cases shoot back up, they can be quick to reinstate them again.

So effectively no mask mandate anymore for anyone. Can they ask for vax info? Thought FL made this illegal, not that I’m following FL Covid laws/ regulations but I though I heard this somewhere…

Some of the articles are explicitly saying they will not ask for vaccination status. They did not ask about it over the summer when this same policy was in place.

I know people won’t click on WDWNT but it I think it was my first podcast (Tom might have been living in his parent’s house in NY). I copied wdwnt’s story directly (complete post) in my reply.

I’m pro-mask and am fine wearing KN-95s indoors to protect myself and my kids, but I reaalllly hope this doesn’t mean an influx of anti-mask crowds this upcoming week because A) President’s Day/Princess week doesn’t need any more people and B) I’m feeling like there will be some pent up aggression on the part of the people who have sworn off WDW until they get rid of the mask requirement and are returning to the parks ‘victorious’ (vs those who are anti-mask and just complied with the rules when they were in place).

Wow, you were 100% accurate.

Nah. They just want to go and not wear masks. And now they can. I don’t expect aggression.

If you mean that you think the parks will simply be more crowded this weekend as a result of this change, I wouldn’t worry too much. It can take weeks to months for changes like this to affect crowds, because most people can’t drop everything and go to WDW. They need at least a few weeks to play their trip, arrange flights, hotels, tickets, work schedules, etc.

People are flipping crazy nowadays. I bet there will be at least 1 “incident” over masks.

I really hope so. It’s always a tough week for crowds, and this year crowds seem crazy even during the slow times. Of course it doesn’t help that I’m going back the last weekend in March too!
