I’m pro-mask and am fine wearing KN-95s indoors to protect myself and my kids, but I reaalllly hope this doesn’t mean an influx of anti-mask crowds this upcoming week because A) President’s Day/Princess week doesn’t need any more people and B) I’m feeling like there will be some pent up aggression on the part of the people who have sworn off WDW until they get rid of the mask requirement and are returning to the parks ‘victorious’ (vs those who are anti-mask and just complied with the rules when they were in place).
Wow, you were 100% accurate.
Nah. They just want to go and not wear masks. And now they can. I don’t expect aggression.
If you mean that you think the parks will simply be more crowded this weekend as a result of this change, I wouldn’t worry too much. It can take weeks to months for changes like this to affect crowds, because most people can’t drop everything and go to WDW. They need at least a few weeks to play their trip, arrange flights, hotels, tickets, work schedules, etc.
People are flipping crazy nowadays. I bet there will be at least 1 “incident” over masks.
I really hope so. It’s always a tough week for crowds, and this year crowds seem crazy even during the slow times. Of course it doesn’t help that I’m going back the last weekend in March too!
We leave for WDW on Friday. I don’t think my kids are ready to give up masks indoors, so we’ll be wearing them. I don’t expect aggression either, but I come from a part of the world where minding your own business could be an Olympic sport. So, I am not sure how I will react if someone says something to us.
There hasn’t been any lately that I know of for having to wear masks, so I don’t think there will be any major incidents, unless someone is not aware of the policy change. I live in an area with a lot of anti maskers and people don’t seem to care if others wear a mask or not, unless they are the ones being mandated to wear one.
I hope not. Most likely scenario might be on transportation where still required and someone either intentionally or unintentionally breaks that rule based on the change in the parks. Really hope no one bullies anyone opting to still wear masks in the parks (or vice versa), and that everyone can just enjoy their vacations without drama.
Bless your heart is a great universal response, then turn away bc it’s literally no ones business what you and your family choose to do.
There could always be “1” but if there is, I think it’s more likely it would be in the next two days when masks are still required. That’s the double-edged sword of making an announcement in advance. More notice gives people time to prepare, but it also can be interpreted (wrongly, IMO) as a signal that it’s ok to early adopt the new policy.
I do as well but I have seen first hand people get heckled for wearing them in places it isn’t required.
Face masks were lifted on June 15th and I arrived on June 21st. I have saw or heard any negative interactions when a guest wore a face mask.
I will be bringing my KN95s and I will wear them when I feel I need them (I wore a mask at every indoor queue at Universal in September.
The only mitigating factor is of course, people at WDW come from all over. We have winter break that week, and I am not sure other areas have it this same week. So, I expect there will be a lot of us who aren’t ready to give up masks inside yet, because we come from some of the stricter states.
Maybe. If not, then so be it. We are going to have the best time regardless and no one outside the Fam is going to change that.
I have had to wear a mask every day, all day for almost two years. I walked into the building today without a mask and in June I walked onto at least two buses without my mask on. People will make mistakes.
Exactly! I am hoping no incidents occur but some people are bat shit and opinionated and rude.
At Seaworld last week we wore a mask on rides & at shows. There is zero requirement there that I’m aware of.
Now I am torn about our trip in April. DS4 is still not old enough to be vaccinated - he’s right now 4 months shy. I was OK with this when everyone was wearing masks indoors, but now I’m not sure I am. I’m just thinking of real crowded spots like the HM queue after the stretching room. I also hate to cancel this trip yet again. This will be the fifth time if we do cancel it. Ugh, I was hoping that either there would be a vaccine by now or the mask mandate would stay in place at least through our trip.
Then again the mask mandate is also leaving schools around here in a couple of weeks, so we will probably catch COVID by our trip anyways.
I did not need this today.
My head was buried in my phone earlier this month looking for a LL and completely walked into the indoor queue at FOP without my mask on. I was horrified when the CM mentioned it to me - it was careless on my part but totally unintentional. It’s gonna happen.
That’s reassuring!
