Credit Card Rewards & Points General Thread

COMING SOON to a Bank Near You!

Without getting too far into the weeds here: the Sapphire Preferred is known as the gateway card to the Chase Ultimate Rewards ecosystem.

For a $95 annual fee you get access to airline and hotel transfer partners for better value with your earned UR - and you get a $50 card year (not calendar year) hotel credit when you book a hotel through the Chase portal.*

Most days, the Sapphire Preferred (and Reserve) have had 60K UR sign up bonuses.

Word on the street is that there is currently a live offer IN CHASE BRANCHes for a new 100K SUB. Also: the online version of this offer should appear by April 3rd. Often, but not always, personal referral links may follow if you refresh them after some point in time, maybe a few weeks if the offer lasts.

Note: Many cards have a 24 month rule: i.e. you cannot earn a bonus for the same card if you have already earned one within the last 24 months. (Clock starts at bonus earn, NOT card open.) HOWEVER: The Sapphire cards have a 48 month rule.

So, if your last Sapphire bonus was earned more than 48 months ago or you have not stepped into the swift and lucractive Ultimate Rewards waters, now (or soon) may be a good time to consider opening a card.

*I am told there are hacks to earning this annual credit without actually keeping the pesky portal reservation you booked.
