Checking Every Day?

I just got out of Disney phone hold hell, but first they sent me to the wrong phone tree, where I got a menu for “Animal Kingdom Lodge Itineraries” which instructed me to hit 2 to book Starry Savana Safari, Wanyama Safari, or Dine with an Animal Specialist. All of those those are still marked as Temporarily Unavailable on the website. I told the CM about the misdirect, and she thanked me profusely, saying they’ve just made some changes to the system and appreciated the feedback, so 90% likely that was a super old message I heard, but just in case anyone is really watching for those, maybe worth checking in more frequently? (See, this is how rumors start!)

When I was looking at options for changing resorts, I’d see “Dining Plans” pop up, but it didn’t do anything when you clicked on it.

And dining reservations are only live through Nov 27.

New Epcot Spaceship Earth light show – I think the show was only for media, since the 4K WDW person had to film it from outside the park. The audio isn’t great as a result, but it give you an idea of what the big golf ball will do. (Fast forward to the 6:45 mark to get close to the actual show)

That’s one of my favorite channels.

From about the 9 minute mark to near the end feels like the “show”.

It’s interesting.

For those who love Spaceship Earth as an icon the way I love Tree of Life, this may be more wow-ing as this feels a little like Tree of Life Awakening.

Does anyone love Spaceship Earth that much?

I mean as much as I love Tree? I can’t imagine it, really

But off the top of my head I think it’s @LTinNC82 and @ryan1 who have recently claimed to love the ball

Or do you mean as much as @OBNurseNH loves her tree? Because that’s hard to top.

I’m just having difficulty imagining anyone loving something as much as she adores her Tree.

I didn’t think I was going to like this but it’s pretty cool!

I love it. Possibly not quite as much as @OBNurseNH loves the tree.

Yes. I love Spaceship Earth. It is, to me, more iconic than anything else at WDW, including the castle. Part of that is nostalgia for me, because I was a kid who watched The Wonderful World of Disney showing us progress on EPCOT as they built it, and then we drove and actually saw SE from the parking lot before it actually opened (didn’t get to actually go into EPCOT until like a year later or something like that). So, to this day, seeing it gives me warm fuzzies. The tree? I mean it is pretty and cool and all, but I don’t get emotional from it like I do SE.

I’m glad @bay_loftis posted the video of this. I thought the mixture of the new lights with the ombre colors was a little underwhelming, when just being static…so I’m glad this is a full-on light show. A much better use of the new lights.

Me, too. I haven’t finished my trip report, although I am working on it. It’s hard to write because I have such conflicted feelings about this trip.

One of the things that makes me sad about this last trip is that Wesley and I didn’t get a Photo Pass picture of the two of us in front of SE. I have always loved that otherworldly glow that it had in its nighttime costume. Now that understated look is changed. (I almost wrote “forever changed,” but I hope someday it will go back to just being beautifully lit. Disney usually does eventually figure out how nostalgia works.)

The show is – It’s – almost like it’s not SE. It’s something else in its place for now. It’s cool; it’s affecting. It’s not Spaceship Earth, but it’s OK.

I wanted to give full respect to Epcot, but can we talk Kite Tails now?

Well, that was something… I feel like you might see something like this at a mall grand opening, it actually made me feel sad and kind of embarrassed for the performers in the front, they have to know this isn’t good. I wish they would have used this money to reopen HDDR instead.

OK I’m only 3 minutes in but this is cringey so far…

I’ll keep watching.
