Annoying Cell Phone use

Now, that’s a reference I get! Roma Downey, Della Reese, etc.

All of the Brits I’ve met have been lovely people… EXCEPT the mother & ~10yo son that were in the seat in front of us in Pirates of the Caribbean! She was flash photographing through the whole ride until I finally said, “Excuse me but the flash is not allowed!”

"Mum! I toldya to turn off the foooking flash!" "I'm trying to turn off the bloody flash!! Fooook!!!" (flash) (flash flash flash) "Fooooking camera, piece of shite!!!"

:astonished:

yes, but it makes a delightful double reference… as Weeping Angels kill you with a single touch.:smiling_imp::smiling_imp:

sorry, but it ain’t. That’s how the Weeping Angels kill you. They touch you and send you into the past.

No no, I kid, I kid. Almost all the Brits I know (and the many that now shun me here because of the above) have been nothing but gracious and awesome. I only know one who I would ever want to disembowel with a rusty spoon.

Ah, well. How about the Vorlons? I know about them. They’re angels. (Sort of.)

Or be attacked by Shadows. Just sayin…

Hmm. I wonder if we could get anyone to make a Babylon 5-themed land.

Let’s see.

Disney is out, because Star Wars, Marvel, etc. Not going with outside IP anymore, it seems, without acquiring it outright. And there’s no good reason for TWDC to acquire B5.

Universal is probably out… aside from HP, they don’t seem to be doing much for unaffiliated IP anymore, either. and B5 is a small niche, not the big one that HP is. Not to mention the incredible lack of current production in the B5 universe.

Maybe we should see if we can get some Vegas Casino to create it… though considering that Star Trek: The Experience was shuttered never to return (despite all announcements indicating that it was being relocated)… that one seems unlikely, as well.

I think the best bet is to get it build in Branson, MO in about 15 years… when everyone who loved it during its run becomes geriatric enough to regularly visit Branson.

Visit Babylon 5! Coming to Branson in 2035!

I’ll add it to my vacation plans now, then. Can never start planning too early!

ETA: Of course, there is always the concern that once they finish building it, it will vanish inexplicably.

That is definitely an Irish accent!

Okay. So, a couple years ago, considering how much I enjoyed The Spellman Files, someone recommended I try the Tana French book, The Likeness. (I hadn’t read the first one because I didn’t KNOW that it was a sequel.) Anyhow, it is a female Irish Detective. Unfortunately, the swearing was so incredibly heavy that I just couldn’t stomach finishing it.

So, this made me wonder if swearing in Ireland is that much more prevalent in real life, or of it is just this particular author.

ETA: I should note that Angela’s Ashes also seemed to be somewhat heavy on the swearing, although not at all so the same degree. That one was a memoir.

What, before a Battlestar Galactica land? :astonished:

Well, okay. But that one’s problematic. Original Battlstar Galactica, or reboot? (I tend to be nostalgic for the original.)

Of course, one could argue that “Batttlestar Galactica land” would just be present day Earth.

Sorry about that, I was really trying to turn it off.

I thought it sounded distinctly Manc to be honest!
