Was there a reason you couldn’t do a split stay? Looking at it from an overall perspective, AKL is fairly remote from everything except Animal Kingdom, but Poly (along with all of the MK area hotels) is really remote from everything except MK so if you spent a few days there and a few days at AKL you could plan your MK and AK days accordingly and wouldn’t be any worse off when it comes to Epcot and HS.
We spend a lot more time at MK and usually only do AK once (sorry it’s just not our fav park!) so it wouldn’t be worth doing a split for us. Also my DS21 can catch the boat/monorail if he wants to tour MK alone or with his brother 12 and me and DH can have a nice meal
