Why aren’t we talking about Encanto?

My kids normally watch something they like to death. Case in point: they got The Bad Guys for Christmas and have already watched it 5 times. It’s very good. I recommend it.

This Encanto concert? One and done. They were completely disgusted by “the mistakes” (in their eyes).

The 9 yo hated that Antonio and Camilo were poorly represented and dismissed Luisa out of hand. She also didn’t like the giant Bruno head looked like a cat face.

Isabela and Mirabel wore dresses very similar to the movie, and Isabela’s even changed like it does in the movie.

Neither Delores nor Pepa wore their costumes, but. the dancers around them did. That was what they did for Luisa. But Delores and Pepa’s dresses were very much in line culturally. Very Latina.

Luisa is a sister, not an aunt or cousin. And her sequined pant suit was a weird purple and not exactly inline with the South American dress. Could be multiple reasons why she made the choice. But it definitely stuck out.

DD4 is loving it. She didn’t even look away until the Luisa song. While I loved the sparkly outfit I can see how it didn’t jive. Everyone else has been at least in similar colors. Maybe if the suit had been white and blue?

But honestly, this is why I love Disney. The talent of all these performers and LMM and lights and orchestra and… Ahhhh. I just love it so much.

Sequins can be tricky. I wonder if it looked one way on origin and then looked all wrong once lights were on, etc.

Just watched the concert, awesome! I’m surprised if there isn’t some sort of an Encanto musical show in any of the parks in the next couple of years. It would be the first show my kids would run to see.

This guy is a damn wizard, has he ever done anything that wasn’t exceptional??
