Which dates should I pick?

We are rebooking our trip for the 3rd time due to covid.
We were going to book the week of 2/27/22-3/6/22 but were advised to avoid due to high crowds with a cheer competition and Mardi Gras

I was going to book for the following week starting 3/6 since there are no events listed that week however in most forums it is listed as the slow week before spring break but touring plans shows high crowds that week as well. Any idea why?

Welcome! There was a little discussion here and maybe somewhere else too previously…

Welcome!! A couple of things…

FYI – A common misconception about Touring Plans Crowd Levels is that they are an indicator of the number of people in each park. However, they are an indicator of average queue waits at the rides in that park during 11am – 5pm .

A CL 1 can feel like a CL 4 in terms of park capacity, but the queues may be moving quickly. Conversely, you can be in a CL 9 park that feels like a CL 5 because the streets aren’t packed. However, all the queues are super long.

Touring Plans typically uses the previous year’s results to set the CLs for the next. However, they set them 365 in advance and don’t really update them until about 90 - 60 days out. You might see a small update here or there, but IME do not base your travel plans that far out on CLs.

Keep doing your research and see what events took place not only last year (COVID) and coming next year, but also 2018 / 2019.

IMHO - In 2021…so many people were still homeschooling and just ready to go out after a long 2020 that the parks were swapped. That along with labor shortages really made queue packed = high CLs for 2022.
