What does Disney QS make that's better than fast food?

(Slightly off topic, but speaking of Chicken Nuggets, I just saw that Wendy’s is bringing back the Spicy Chicken Nuggets! Woohoo!)

I would say McDonald’s has the best French fries of any place I have had.

Really? To me, McDonald’s French Fries are mediocre at best. Often too greasy, too cold, or too salty. Only when they are freshly made and cooked perfectly (by their standards) might I consider them “good”. Which almost never happens.

I rarely get them too cold, but yes if cold, nasty. I have never had them too greasy. I can take or leave them at most places, but at McDonald’s it is a very different story.

What fries I LOVED (but are no longer available) were Wendy’s fries from 20+ years ago.

See, I like my fries to be more potatoey. And their fries, way back, were thicker and delicious. But then, someone had the bright idea of making their fries more like McDonald’s fries, thinking that might draw more people in. Didn’t work, and they were a failure. They then swapped them out again for the version they sell now. Better than the “McDonald’s knock off fries”, but nowhere near as good as the originals.

I remember getting those in high school and dipping into my frosty. It was the only way I would eat them, otherwise, they were “meh” for me.

!!! I haven’t been to a Wendy’s since they stopped selling the spicy nuggets! Thanks for this fabulous news.

I never did that with the fries, but I did that with the saltine crackers they would have out for those getting chili. I still like dipping saltines in the frosty!

Are you talking about the original fries, or the McDonald’s knock off fries? Because I don’t think you could possibly mean the original fries. They were the best french fries ever! (Well, of fast-food variety. I’m a sucker for a good steak fry!)

Me too! It’s my go to QS item in MK. It’s comfort food somehow, even when it’s a million degrees I’ll still eat it.

yyyyeah, but you liked Last Jedi…so your opinion is already suspect (correction: wrong.).

Huh. On the last couple of trips we actually never ate any QS, so I guess that’s my opinion of it. We stayed club level, ate snacks (which are really terrific if you get the right ones) and TS.

I would much rather eat a series of small plates & snacks, in fact I had planned for the Tangierine Cafe and ended it nixing that because of the Flower and Garden Festival food booths. Yum yum.

Does it help if I say the scene at the casino was rather a low point of the film series?

I have been out of school for about 25 years, so I am assuming they are the original.

I really enjoyed the seafood curry at Captain Cooks. Also, enjoyed the cooked to order pizzas you could get at Pop.

Wendy’s are the best

…said no one, ever.

The only thing Disney does “best” in my book is snacks:

  • Churros (never had a better one anywhere)
  • Dole whips
  • Ice cream (as good if not better than any other parlor)
  • Baked goods
  • Beignets
  • Etc.

Other than snacks, the only other thing I put in the best category is corn dogs at Corn Dog Castle in DCA.

I had a pulled pork and apple sandwich at Pop Century a few years ago that was one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. I also think that the Tonga Toast at Captain Cook’s is an amazing QS breakfast.

In general, what I love about the QS at WDW is the variety. I think the quality is comparable to a lot of the higher end fast food franchises but I can get something totally different for every meal.

If it does count for resorts, I had a pulled pork sandwich at the POR food court that was awesome. I’m annoyed I didn’t get it a second time. May need to Lyft over there this December for one.

For QS meals, I want it to be decent and easy to get. It has a job to do - fill me up and give me energy for more WDW. I don’t get too picky. I also really liked that I could buy a child’s QS portion and it was plenty of food for me.

I do get bummed out by expensive TS meals that are mediocre. That being said, I have reservations at H&V after saying I’d never do it again. A meal + characters + Fantasmic FP means I can put up with just okay food. Now if only I could get the waiter to bring me a second glass of wine this year.

Ok, I haven’t read through the entire thread, but I’m jumping in with my opinion based on the original post…

I can’t say there’s anything I’d call the “best ever” or the best anywhere, but that’s a pretty bold statement to make about anything and honestly, my opinion of that would be subject to change anyway.

What I will say is that I appreciate Disney quick service because it is better than most. Is that Cosmic Ray cheeseburger the best fast food/quick service burger I’ve ever had? Not a chance… but it’s a really good burger. Better than a lot of other fast food/quick service burgers I’ve had at other places.

I guess I’ll say this. I like Disney QS. I think it is overpriced, but I think in a lot of ways it really is better than it’s reputation. I can’t think of any experiences really where I’ve had something that I’ve thought was awful or subpar for QS food. I think they do a nice job offering a lot of options and doing them consistently well, even if not the “best ever.”

Just my 2 cents on it.
