Well we all made it to our happy place in one piece . Arrival day was Father’s Day and we had a reservation at Boathouse in DS. Fun fact: the Boathouse is not the restaurant in the huge boat at DS. Go figure. Our party is me, dh, ds 32, dn32, ds 26, ds girlfriend 22, ds 21 and ds 17. We are in three rooms at Pop Century.
Boathouse is loud and busy, but a nice fancy/casual atmosphere. I had the shrimp and sausage mac and cheese which was well flavored but had a total of 2 pieces of sausage. Ds gf had the shrimp boil which she let me sample and it was awesome. Ds21 had the cocktail with the duckie and said it tasted like spiked blue raspberry icee.
Ds gf had her birthday button on and they brought her out the cutest cupcake!
Surprisingly it was cloudy and a little windy and actually felt bearable. We shopped, walked the marathon to our bus and headed to the rooms. Well, two of the rooms. Dh and my room wasn’t ready until quite late that night. How only two out of three rooms together were prepared I will never understand. Doesn’t matter, we are here! Hollywood Studios day up next.
Yay for this trip!
I see someone had a duck duck razz to drink at Boathouse–yum.
I will have to go there someday just to get the cute little duck.
Hooray! Hope you are having fun!
We’ve been so busy I haven’t been able to update the report, but now I can. Because dh woke up during the night shivering and coughing We are hoping it’s just allergies but dh and I are room bound for now.
Our first park day was Hollywood Studios. We really wanted ROR passes but dn’s ticket wasn’t linked to the resort so they wouldn’t let me book him. Half of us got in line but there was a soup nazi cast member who would not let the rest of the group join us when they arrived. I will say the hour and a half wait really wasn’t bad, lots of fans outside and super air conditioned inside. The ride was awesome as usual but they herded us through the storm trooper room and I couldn’t get good pics.
I had a reservation to build a droid but missed the time due to the line. Thankfully they let me in anyway. It was fun!
I gotta come up with a name for it.
I booked g+ for Mickey Minnie Railroad but again it wouldn’t recognize dn. At least at this ride the cast members let all of us through.
We mobile ordered Backlot Express…they really are pushing mobile order and only have one cashier open for everyone else. The lines were incredible. I had the pulled pork burger. I did not realize it was a burger patty with pulled pork on top. It turned out to be quite tasty. However the Wookie cookie was just kinda plain to me. Huge, but meh. (Twss).
It’s walking on the sun hot now so we went to Frozen, my favorite! Then dh, dh and I grabbed BB-8 frozen cokes and left for a room break. The others headed to other parks.
Then Florida started showing itself lol. A major thunderstorm hit with sideways wind and flooding rain. We room people slept through it. The others had a 2 hour lightning show in the parks. Even the elevators at Pop flooded!
So the rest of the evening was eating in our rooms and trying to blow dry soaked footwear. Still, we are having a blast. Next up, Magic Kingdom day!
Oh no! I hope it’s not covid and DH feels better soon. Sorry about all the ticket issues.
Yum Wookie cookie
Hope you feel better soon!
Cutest character ever!
Umm, that’s a pretty bold rodent.
Ok, MK day. Dh and I had a breakfast reservation for Ohana so we drove over and really wished we didn’t have to leave!
Monorail to MK and met up with our oldest son and nephew. We rode Peoplemover, Buzz and saw Monsters Inc.
As we made our way over to Adventureland for a Dole Whip we caught the Dapper Dans driving by. Met up with the rest of our group to ride Pirates and have lunch at Columbia Harbor House.
Dh and I saw Philharmonic, shopped a little and took the monorail back to Poly to get the car and head to the room for a rest.
That jack sparrow looks authentic!!
He really does look like Johnny Depp!
The rest of this trip report comes to you from my sickbed lol. Yes, I have whatever dh got. But I figure between chills and sweats I can churn out some Disney fun.
After our rest we skylined to Epcot with our oldest son to grab some festival goodies and dh’s favorite Canadian beer. I had the pork belly from the Citrus Blossom. The pork and plantain chips were yummy but whatever else was on there was not. Then I tried the cheesy wontons from Lotus House…very yummy! Ds and I both love boba tea but I could not handle the rose bubble milk tea from the same booth. To me it was like drinking potpourri.
Joffrey’s really outdid themselves with their festival and 50th celebration offerings. I had one every time I passed one of their booths. I also tried the pretzel bread pudding at Germany and it was delicious.
Ds and I rode the Mexico ride and we tried to standby Frozen but it was not moving.
Dh and I called it quits and let the young people deal with the heat. Up next-Epcot day and the proposal!!
I’m sorry you’re sick too!
I am sooooo sorry! Hoping for a quick recovery.
Also, I have seen this too many times on this forum. I really think that I will wear my mask on my upcoming trip, but I am not looking forward to wearing it in surface of the sun heat.
I honestly don’t know of a single person who has gone recently who hasn’t tested positive. I’m thinking of canceling
Oh no
I know. It’s literally a once in a lifetime event, but also I know if I go and I do end up testing positive I will be so furious with myself.
