I stayed in my AKL room until 10:45 on check out day, June 11. No one knocked on my door at all that morning to rush me out of the room. Friend even left to get a mobile breakfast order around 10:00 from the Mara. I think the auto-check out worries are a one-off occurrence and not anything we need to fret about.
In our three days at AKL we never had anyone knock on our door while we were in the room to do a room check. This was basically a resort only stay as we only went to MK on an after 4:00 ticket on our second day of a three day stay. We were in the room in the afternoon for naps too.
This isn’t the scenario that people were reporting issues against. It was when people left their room, maybe to go into a park, and then came back to the room to find they had been checked out prematurely.
Like @JenniferB1975 I had no issues with being checked out of my room before I checked me out across a 3-resort split stay earlier in the month
I took some screen shots of what my MDE was showing in the morning
I got a push notification that I could check out on the app when ready
I opened the app and went to “Today’s Plans”
At Bay Lake I only got a push notification to “please check out with the front desk when ready”. Not sure why as there wasn’t anything done or said to me other than inquiring about how my stay was and then they pushed that button (I suppose)
YC checkout was the same as RR
All this to say I was never bothered by anyone to hurry up and check out, never had a single knock to my door, and was never checked out before I was ready despite leaving my room in the morning at each of the resorts for various amounts of time and distance. I did not tap into any parks, though.
The push notifications seem to be the norm now - whether to say “check out here when you’re ready” or “see the front desk to check out when you’re ready”
I did get push notifications regarding check out in September 2024, March 2025, and not June 2025. I was never auto checked out. I clicked them when I left the rooms around 11:00. All my flights home are in the late evening so we don’t vacate the rooms until 10:45-11:00 and then we head to the pool for the day.
I don’t doubt you. But plenty of anecdotes suggest it does happen. I don’t think anyone has claimed it happens often. But even if it only happens once, that is one time too many.
For me personally, I am fed up with the incessant bothering that comes mid afternoon when we are trying to relax/nap and they won’t stop bothering us with calls and/or knocking despite the do not disturb sign. It is a separate issue, but one we have experienced every trip we have add at BWV and SSR.
Grrr, housekeeping just came knocking on my door at 8:29am. I couldn’t get there fast enough and they opened the door. Really not cool. My children asleep in the bed closest to the door and me in just a towel after my shower. We only got into the room for the first time last night at 6:30pm.
Question, do you know if the deadbolt was on? Trying to confirm if housekeeping can unlock that themselves. There were reports on reddit that only security could unlock a deadbolted door.
