Walt Disney World Resort Provides Update on Resort Experiences and Housekeeping, Transportation, Dining, and More - WDW News Today

Interesting news…
In the dvc members forum on the Dis, owners report that they are now able to book Jambo house.

I would think requiring an owner login to access the availability tool would be indication enough, but I always come up short gauging the determination of a SuperFan to find an angle or a grift to give him or her a leg up on the undeserving heathens.

A couple of the rental agencies have a public tool that updates twice a day.

“Throughout Disney Resort hotels, we’re increasing cleaning in high-traffic areas such as elevators and escalators, handrails, benches, tables, handles, restrooms, and more. We’ve also expanded the number of hand sanitizer locations across the property.“

What hotels have escalators?

I can confirm that Jambo is wide open! I am contemplating switching my Kidani 1-bedroom to a Jambo studio now that my MIL can’t come with us but I’m hesitant! I like the full kitchen and Kidani pool.

We love a 1br ourselves. It’s nice to have a little space with the kids. And the kitchen we are super happy with for this trip because we don’t know yet what dining will look like and I am glad to have the option to cook some meals if we want.

Personally I’d keep it as is since Kidani is confirmed and Jambo could be a glitch, but obviously the decision and risk is up to you!

You and @Jeff_AZ are both right! I am keeping it. The allure of saving 80 points just got too shiny! Even last year with all the restaurants open we like to eat dinner in the room so that we can just immediately do bath/bed, etc. And it will be so nice for DS2 to have his own bedroom in the bathroom. I just also really hope that Jambo will be open. I don’t think the resort will feel the same with just Kidani.

I agree. We love Jambo. Victoria Falls lounge, Boma, Mara… and that lobby (Kidani just has nothing on Jambo’s lobby).

We haven’t stayed at Kidani yet - I hope we like it. We positively LOVE Jambo, but having that 2nd bathroom is important to us.

They cannot possibly move everyone to DVC resorts beyond mid-August.

This is how it works. Disney own 2-3% of points at all DVC escorts, except for Riviera which they still own more than half of it.

For dates over 60 days away, they can only use rooms covered by those points. That isn’t anywhere near enough to move everyone. They will have to open up resorts we’ll before the end of the year, certainly by mid September.

Within 60 days DIsney are allowed to take any unbooked rooms. So between June 22nd and August 9th Disney can move anyone currently booked into an available DVC room.

My take is that Disney doesn’t JUST mean DVC rooms…but those resorts that have DVC rooms.

So, if they are moving guests to DVC resorts…that could mean to the resorts that have DVC rooms. This makes sense to me because it allows for more guests outside of the limit on DVC rooms, but it isn’t really much added cost for Disney because they already have to have staff working those resorts for DVC anyhow.

That, plus they don’t want to commit to which resorts they will open.

i think there is a combination of messages being misinterpreted, both by recipients and TAs, and a poor choice of wording by TAs that is leading to confusion.

That’s what I’ve been thinking too and I hope it is correct. For our August Beach Club stay with myself and 4 teens, we need 2 queen beds and a daybed. One bed, a sofa bed and a flip-down kid bed are not going to work. I’m not sure what I will do if they put us in a villa.

Hmm. 10 seconds ago, I received an email from Disney requesting to fill out a survey. I haven’t opened it yet, but once I do, I’ll be sure to post the questions asked! (I am in the middle of something right now, so I can’t do it yet.)

You should tag @len with this survey, he would probably discuss it in next week’s podcast.

Interesting. We are scheduled ASMo from July 31-August 9. Still waiting to hear from Disney.

We are going to need you to drop everything and get on that survey…
