I really don’t get it! Couldn’t they do an every other show? Or at least start Impressions at like 5pm?
I haven’t done any of these (except for Enchanted Tales- but I haven’t done that in 9 years- before kids) and they’re all going on my list for Feb!
We’re in the World October 18th to 25th
Do you think TAA plays well for non-Americans? (We’re Scottish). The kids have a working knowledge of early American history (‘Hamilton’ is an educational resource) but I suspect their grasp on anything after the Civil War is shaky.
Can you tell me more about duck tales? Is it app based? We’re trying to have a screen free vacation (for the kids - not me obviously, I need my Lines app and mobile food ordering capabilities!).
That’s a very good (and interesting) question!
It is hard to judge how TAA would be taken from non-Americans. It is definitely educational, and shows both the positive and negative things that are part of our history. But the emotional impact is likely lost on anyone who isn’t actually American. I mean, honestly, every time I see it, I come away with tears.
If you all end up seeing it, I’d love to hear your perspective. Or maybe those who have seen it but are from the U.K. can report back here their take.
ETA: There is a certain technical aspect of the show that is kind of cool, though. The use of animatronic “dioramas” is pretty neat.
Good shout - my youngest LOVES Crush - he particularly enjoys doing the voice, so I’m hoping we get the chance to hear a dialogue between them!
We’re very much in favour of singalongs, generally speaking - particularly ones with Ashman & Menken numbers.
Is it widely regarded that the BATB one at Epcot is a dud?
If so, how on earth….?
Thanks for the warning - I’m particularly prone to blubbing at great singing and moments of emotional resonance. I’ve even been know to fill up at stirringly patriotic moments in movies when the patriots are from a country I’m not from!
If you like singalongs, nothing wrong with the one at Epcot. It is…a singalong!
It will be accurate and a good source to supplement their current knowledge about America. I think you should add it if you can.
It is an app based game- Disney Play. It can take a while to finish it all. It’s best split up over 2 or 3 days if you want to do each challenge. They take about 15 - 20 mins per country. You could skip through the dialogue and just go to the mission to find the things around the country. That could knock 10 mins off and limit screen time. They are interactive and fun. Germany, Japan, and Norway are my favs. Mexico is fun too because it’s all in the temple.
Yes it’s app based. But it’s good fun so not sure if you’d be willing to let them stand around yours for the next clue? It’s in the Play Disney App. You do not have to play in every country to enjoy it so you can just do one country for 30 min-ish.
I think the pirates one in MK is gone? But if not that one does not require a phone and is also fun. A Pirates Adventure I think it’s called.
It’s still listed on Disney. I haven’t done it but keep planning to. Maybe next trip, lol
It takes about 1.5 hours to do the whole thing but you can do one mission in like 20 min. It’s fun. Simpler than duck tales but some cute interactive effects.
also Epcot pretty much always has a festival and therefore a scavenger hunt around that. It’s not interactive like the others with things happening like ducks popping out of windows but i really like a scavenger hunt and even when my kids were very teeny and like ugh some stuff in Disney is so not cool and they acted like they didn’t want to find all the Olafs or figments or bees or Remys. I’d go ahead and buy myself a board and guess who was looking all over the place for the hunt? Uh huh. Not cool right. lol?
Yes, @J_Hardie , it’s app based, but that’s to guide you around the countries for the things you’re looking for. And then it sets off effects on those things physically in front of you. As @drvillarejos says, you can skip the dialog to lessen your time in the app to spend more time looking for the real-life things.
