Universally Addicted to Frights - CANCELLED

This means so much to me! Thanks for the support. I’m already planning a “make up” trip in December. My plans to skip UOR in 2025 are being reevaluated for sure!

THEY GAVE ME A FULL REFUND! NO QUESTIONS ASKED!

It only took one call & about 3 minutes…

I LOVE UNIVERSAL!! :blue_heart: :yellow_heart: :yellow_heart: :yellow_heart: :blue_heart:

I was already planning on my AP renewal for next year, but this kind of service is what helps make the decision easier!

It’s definitely bittersweet, but a big relief! Potentially losing out on $1200 in tickets was going to be upsetting. I would’ve been kicking myself for a while about it.

Now, I can just focus on getting better and a potential bigger birthday trip in December!

Trying to be positive. I was pretty hyped about a couple of the houses and scare zones!

I think it is possible that both WDW and UOR realise that their official policies are ridiculous and unfair and will cave pretty much immediately if you ask nicely. I’ve had success at both with non-refundable tickets.

I bought some UOR tickets from a vendor about ten months in advance but then wanted to change the order about two months later. The guy on the phone said they were not refundable, paused, and then said “that’s ridiculous — I’ll charge you a £10 change fee: that sound fair?”

I still can’t bring myself to cancel my hotel reservation or move my flights. My leg has improved with taking that whole week off. In my mind I know there’s no way I can go. In my heart, I keep hoping that I’ll magically be 100% in the next two weeks. (It not going to happen)

I’ve seen multiple YT vids showing the insides of some of the houses during “Unmasking the Horror” tours. They look so great, but really makes me sad. I had to turn them off last night as I was getting too depressed.

I’m back in the office this week. They want me to either go home and use up ALL my PTO for the year (or until I’m 100% - whichever happens first) or do all my work.

I’m trying to find a middle ground so I can keep my PTO for December. :crossed_fingers: :crossed_fingers:

Just seeing this whole thread and I’m so sorry you have to cancel! Thank you for the help on our trip and I hope it helps pass the time a little until you can make it down!

Thanks! I really appreciate all the support. I’m not only got a messed up leg, but a broken heart.

The only upside is I wasn’t planning on going during 2025 and waiting until 2026 to renew my AP.

Now, I’m renewing and planning on going to Epic and HHN next year!

Yes! Maybe look at it that way, it won’t be a used up trip soon but instead more trips to look forward to. I know how hard it is though when you enjoy it as much as you obviously do!. Hoping for fast healing for you…

I’m so sorry you work for heartless a-holes. :worried:

Yeah… they pay very well and I don’t have to do too much normally. But when I’m not here no one else covers my duties. When I came back to work on Monday the facility was a wreck. Nothing stocked in common areas, boxes of supply orders unopened, literally trash overflowing from every container, company cars that have issues that no one did anything about & etc…

I’m a babysitter for adults - no joke! If I had anyone to assist me or willing to “get their hands dirty” while I was out it wouldn’t be so bad.

I’ve made it no secret that I don’t enjoy what I do, but it’s so easy. Plus, I don’t deal with clients / customers or have to go to meetings, file reports & etc… I just come in and make sure the place is organized, everyone has what they need and the building is stocked with supplies. On a typical day, I’m done with my work in about 90 mins. Then I “get paid” to hang out here until 5pm! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: :shark:

If it wasn’t so easy or I got paid a lot less I’d have left a long time ago! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: :shark: :shark:

I’m going at my own pace. Plus, both DW & DD have come to the office before & after hours to do heavy lifting and etc… to keep my steps down and leg from be aggregated.

I’m so sad to see this, @darkmite2! I didn’t even know about your injury! What happened? It seems like you’re on the mend. But bummer about your HHN trip. While HHN has a negative appeal to me (makes me less likely to want to go), I know you love it. But it will be there next year!

Employment law and employers vary so widely. Speaking as an HR person, we would not ALLOW you to return to work if you did not have a note from your doctor saying you were physically able to perform your job functions. You might be able to come back on light duty with job modifications. But WA also has paid medical leave so you could get paid (not full wage replacement) but also not use your PTO. I wish everyone had this type of paid leave.

Starting in May, I began my usual workouts after sitting on my butt since the holidays. I over did it and strained both muscles in my left leg. It’s not a tear or anything drastic, but it is swollen and hurts constantly.

I have a note that says I should be off until 8/21/24. Then two weeks of light duties. This means no walking for more than 30 minutes and no lifting greater than 50 lbs. (that seems like a lot to me right now!)

Staying home until 8/21/24 would eat up all my PTO for the year and the company doesn’t allow anyone to go negative more than one work day,.

I have 60 - 65 hours of PTO remaining for the year. I was hoping to use 30 - 40 of it in December. Then maybe roll over the rest for a Feb. trip.

I felt pretty OK when I came to work on Monday, but after two days I’m starting to get sore again.

Right now I’m thinking I may have to use half of the PTO to start take a couple Fridays & Mondays off for a couple weeks to have long breaks. Plus we get Labor Day weekend soon too.

I’m trying to make the best off a bad situation! I just hate taking 2 steps forward and then 1 step back in my recovery by being here and doing the little I can.

Yes, you don’t want to aggravate it further instead of heal!

Sorry to hear about your injury! But I am glad you seem to be making some lemonade from those lemons. I’m so excited for you to renew your AP and to hopefully see Epic next year! :crossed_fingers:

@darkmite2 I know it’s terrible to cancel but better to heal up and super plan next years HHN

***anyone else considering a scooter/ecv for HHN it’s a no-no in the queues and in the houses.

When we went year before last they wouldn’t even allow rollator, granted mine is all terrain and slightly lager than most. I was given a “manual wheelchair” for transfer… and boy did it suck trying to maneuver it through the house. I did one and was done.

Yep! I’ve seen people on scooters during the event. No one has any patience for them.
