Look for Hogwarts Always specifically for summer, Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle for Halloween, and The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle for Christmas. There are different shows depending on time of year so if the one you’re looking at is out of season, it will show as unavailable.

If you are not at IoA at the very beginning of Early Entry, you will have a long wait on Hagrid’s, unfortunately. However, there is a bit of a lull around 10-11am after the EE crowd dies down, and it’s usually under an hour then (maybe 30-45 min if you’re lucky!). That’s when I would try to ride it.
I would probably ride other rides from 9-10/11am while you wait for your moment at Hagrid’s, then go to USF afterward. The train gets busiest around 3pm, so try to get over there right after lunch if you can.
Thank you! What’s really incredible about this is I spoke to a UOR rep on the phone yesterday, and, while speaking to them, asked them about the night time show, and they told me it only happens sometimes and they don’t think it’s happening now.
Hmm, that’s good to know! Do you think it would make more sense to go to USF in the morning (since I have about 7 or so rides I’m interested in there, and which I’ve made a Touring Plan for), and then go to IOA for the afternoon/evening after finishing USF?
(I’m really only interested in Hagrid’s and Spider-Man at IOA.)
When I punch it in it is currently showing Hogwarts Always with dates through 9/4. My guess is they will either add more dates or switch to the Dark Arts show around then.
If that is the plan I would maybe do Diagon Alley when it opens, cross to IoA and do Hagrid’s at 10/11 and have lunch at Three Broomsticks or whatever; ride Spider-Man, then go back to USF. But the nice thing about doing IoA in the evening is that the ride is cooler (temperature and also exhilaration factor) at night. So that is a nice alternative, but just be aware you will likely have a slightly longer wait.
Universal, like Disney, have calls often going to team members that are not anywhere near the parks, or even Florida. The last time I called I talked to the team member for a while. They were talking to me from Canada.
It varies from the time of the year. There is, typically, a projection show on the Hogwart’s Castle most of the year.
For USF, they only do a fireworks/projection show in the summer. They have parades in the spring and fall when they close early.
If you have a park-to-park ticket, I’m going to recommend you start at IOA. Ride Spider-man and any Marvel things that you want for that first 50 - 60 minutes. I’d walk over to USF (they are neighboring parks and extremely close) a few minutes after USF opens.
This will allow for the RD crowds to enter and you can stroll in. USF has the most shows and they run from 10:30am - 4pm. So, you can ride a bunch of great stuff, see Diagon Alley and see shows all day. Plus, there are good food options at USF.
Then for the evening I would go back to IOA. Try Cat in the Hat or Jurassic Park River Adventure. Your ultimate goal is to get in queue for Hagrids within the last 15 minutes of park closing. As long as you are in queue when the park closes you get to ride. Plus, a night ride is the BEST way to experience Hagrid’s. Depending on what time you get to Hogsmeade you could ride it twice, if you quickly get back in queue!
This is definitely a great way to do it if you’re willing to wait till the end of the day to ride.
That is the biggest downside. I’d hate to wait all day to find out that the ride went down in the last hour. They often don’t reopen it when that happens.
Plus, it’s such a great ride. I’d definately do it twice if possible!

Too bad about the noise problem in California. 
I love this detail about how Universal tried to mitigate noise from the start:
Using computer modeling, ride designers mapped where screams were most likely to occur and incorporated defenses…. The coaster’s spinning cars were enlisted: Universal said they were programmed to turn riders’ mouths away from nearby homes at “key scream moments.”
The biggest complaints are coming from the golfers at the neighboring country club. The ride faces out towards the course. 
The ride definaley needs a couple years to let the foilage grow in. It’s bare walls and gravel ground in some scections, for now.

This coaster looks amazing. I live the “screen screams” they add a really cool vibe that highlights the “drift” part. And I live that they turn the cars away so peoole scream in the other direction!
