Chiming in: I’ve never been asked at either USO or WDW to validate a room discount, at check-in, by showing an AP or Mil ID. If staying at SoG a valid DoD ID is required just to get past the gate guard.

Out of a bunch of UO onsite hotel visits, I’ve only been asked twice for my AP . Never at Disney.

New Temporary Closures

  • E.T. Adventure: May 6 - May 15, 2024

  • Revenge of the Mummy: June 17 - June 22, 2024

Haven’t seen any other details yet, but maybe E.T. will be getting a relocated entrance?

Oh this better not get delayed!! :crossed_fingers:t4::crossed_fingers:t4::crossed_fingers:t4::crossed_fingers:t4:
The Mummy was closed on our last trip and the kids were too short for it on trips before that.
Really looking forward to them loving it…!!!

That would make a lot of sense! Would it that translate into DreamWorks Destination opening after that? It mean everything would be ready for Memorial Day weekend - the ā€œtraditionalā€ start of summer!

How should we abbreviate DreamWorks Destination - (DWD?)
I’m already tired of typing it out!

Universal posted summer hours. They have dumped May, June, and July all at once. I have not seen this in quite some time.

What event might they be having at the Studios on July 16th that would have it close early?

Probably a private event. They do a ton in the winter, less in the summer.

Hi All,
We just got back from a last minute 2 day trip to UOR (along with a day at KSC which was awesome and included a SpaceX launch to the ISS).
We had a busy first day and my two older boys (14 and 12) rode Hagrid single rider about 30 min before close with <5 min wait but the rest of the gang was too tired to wait for it. We slept in a bit on the morning of Day 2 so got to the gates of IOA right around 8:10 (10 min into early entry) so Hagrid’s was already showing a 75 min wait at that point. After confirming it was open, we went in the single-rider queue and all 6 of us rode back-to-back with <5 min wait each time. My youngest child is 7 and tall enough for the ride but there’s no higher height or age requirement for single rider queue. That said, I made sure to pair him with a responsible-looking adult and had an older kid ahead and me behind in the line. A lot has been made of the Hagrid single rider queue often being as long or longer than the regular queue and I can see why that’s the case during regular park hours but barely any of the resort guests who were rope dropping were using this. We had fewer than 3-4 people in line ahead of us both times we rode and there were enough groups of 3 and 5 that it was moving quite well. Anyway, just something for this group to consider if your party is okay riding single rider and you don’t want to get to the park 50 min before early park entry to be near the front of the queue.

I’d note that we revisited the single rider line later in the day on Day 2 (which was a Saturday and much nicer day than Day 1 so many more people in the park overall) and the line had probably 50 people ahead of us in the portion still outside the building so it probably was as long as the regular queue then so we opted not to wait.

And it goes without saying, I suppose, but we absolutely LOVED the ride!!

You would think that the single rider queue would be good for Hagrid’s since they can’t often combine two odd numbered groups. The seats aren’t equal and the person waiting in the regular line gets first dibbs. We’d never tried the single-rider for Hagrid’s because of the reports of it being just as long, and thinking about it the SR was often closed. That makes sense though on EA. Gringott’s had still been walk-on in the single rider line at the end of EA when the regular line looked to genuinely be a half hour.

Single Rider at Hagrid’s is a gamble. Because it’s a two seater it can be a hassle to get on with SR.

I’ve had days where I get right on. However, more often IME I wait dramatically longer than standby.

My husband needed the motorcycle to fit and got paired with a kid who looked to be about 12 who clearly was trying to run in front of him to get the motorcycle. The kid was the single rider. DH had to tell him, sorry I’m riding in the motorcycle. Kid was not happy

My DH acted the gentleman and gave the motorbike to the single rider he was paired with the last (and only!) time he rode Hagrid’s. I told him he’s a lovely human but for gosh sakes take the motorbike next time!!

We do that sometimes on Mellinium Falcon because we like all the different spots so why not? In this case both he and I didn’t know if we would fit, and the motorcycle is supposed to be more generous. So it was crucial in this case!

I actually like the Engineer position best. It allows you to participate, but also watch all the antics of everyone else at the same time. I felt being pilot wasn’t nearly as fun, and a lot more pressure if you are flying with people you don’t know!

Last time I rode it with my DS24 during the Moonlight Magic event, and the group of four we were paired with said, we get pilot! And I was like, great! (They were afraid we would want it.)

Engineer is definitely the best.

My first time on MFSR in 2019 it was me (single rider), 3 other middle aged men, and two women who looked to be in their 70s (the two women knew each other but none of the men). The two women had the pilot cards and turned to us and said ā€œTwo of you guys should be the pilots because we don’t know what we are doing.ā€ We all told them we wanted them to pilot. They were absolutely horrible, but we kept cheering them on. Everyone had a great time.
