No club level rooms big enough to hold my big a$$ family there ![]()
I love Portofino! I am booked there in Oct with a harbor view room despite the renovation. I’m sure it will still be awesome. Plus AP rates are kind of fantastic in the future- most likely a mea culpa for the renos.
PS- I always walk to the hard rock in the am on my way to the parks for my coffee since the Starbucks at Portofino is bonkers ![]()
I’m not optimistic that there will be an AP rate offered on our room type, but I’m still keeping my fingers crossed! ![]()
I’m a Scooter’s Coffee owner. I do not Starbuck!
I dropped my ROR CL room for an AP discount that saved me almost $400 a night. I have checked and I have not seen a CL AP rate room posted (but plenty of 1 bedroom suites).
We’re not going until January, so I assume AP rates wouldn’t be out yet.
Just saying. I appreciate this.
I don’t like to get spoilers for attractions before experiencing them first hand.
I managed to avoid relevant big spoilers for Hagrid and am very very glad I did.
It’s so hard for me to go to my usual Universal information social media sites now. Everyone is posting pictures - mostly from approved areas, but a couple have full videos…
58 days to go!!
Today’s updates (so far)
VCON isn’t open this morning to guests. (That’s the gamble of “tech rehearsals”!)
and the walls in Springfield have FINALLY been pushed back (not 100% done). You can now walk through the land and have some room. The new pavement looks nice!
It’s very bright.
When watching a video, some of the screens would freeze. It wasn’t much, maybe for a half second. But that definitely needs fixed. There is SO much going on that I’m not surprised.
The guns also had a slight lag. So when you pointed the gun to the screen and moved it, your icon was slightly behind.
Hopefully they can work out the tech issues.
Plus, they haven’t even enabled the app sync part yet.
I follow the lead project manager for the ride on Twitter… He says VCON was “the bane of his existence” for two years!!
The biggest issue he faced in the design was keeping the blasters charged between riders. The usage turnover was so high that they couldn’t get recharged!
They’ll definitely have to keep some backup Blasters on hand. Or replace batteries frequently.
I can definitely see technical issues there.
In order to use rapid recharge, you greatly shorten the life of the battery. If you want to lengthen the life of the battery, you need to trickle charge, which probably means the blasters can’t charge fast enough throughout the day unless they have enough blasters to just be used a handful of times.
I can see how this attraction is going to be a technological problem for them. The latency issue mentioned earlier is going to ruin the experience…and I’m left wondering what technology they are using. If Bluetooth, then when you have a large number of these within very close quarters, it is going to be a problem. Maybe they are using some other means…but those probably draw more power.
VCON has soft opened for today. It’s been open for about 30 minutes and is posting a 40 minute wait (if anyone is interested!!) ![]()
Would if I could ![]()
I watched a video showing the attraction. No spoilers, but I will say, it was not what I was expecting. My interest in it has plummeted dramatically. Doesn’t look fun, really, at all.
Maybe if you are someone who likes video games.
Source please?
My wife found a YouTube video someone took while riding the attraction. I will see if I can find it.
Found it…
