Hi there! I am heading to Universal for the first time in a couple of weeks and noticed that a handful of the Universal hotel restaurants are on the Resy booking app. This caught my attention because the AMEX Platinum card is now offering a $100 statement credit each quarter for restaurants on this platform. I’ve heard anecdotal that sometimes hotel restaurant charges show up as hotel charges vs restaurant charges, leaving some folks disappointed that these purchases don’t earn them that statement credit. So…. on the off chance that anyone here has tried this, I thought I’d ask: if you have paid the restaurant bill directly with your AMEX Platinum card at places like Mama Della’s Ristorante at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, or The Kitchen at Hard Rock (vs charging the meal to your room), have you gotten the credit?
I do not know the answer. BUT there is a thread here that might be able to help with this question. There are a few AMEX users. And I’m pretty sure somewhere on there is mention of a site that you put in the vendor and it tell you how they code. You could as the question there also.
I charged our meal at Orchid Court Lounge at the end of June and Flora Taverna at the beginning of July to my AMEX Platinum and received a Resy credit for both.
Just closing the loop on this- as others have shared, the Resy credit worked out beautifully at our Universal resort restaurants! Happy dining! Just be sure to pay for the meal directly at the restaurant with your card vs making it a room charge. (we booked though AMEX Fine Hotels, so we did get $100 food/beverage credit, so we did make sure to charge $100 to the room for another meal)
