I used the touring plans room checker to select and then request a specific room via webchat. But they said it was not possible. Is this a new change or is there another way to ask? We arrive late so am worried about all the rooms in good locations have been allocated.
There is an email you can send it to but yesterday someone said the front desk told them they did not get the email. The only surefire way (other than filling out the generic room preference field in the online checkin form) is to go to the front desk at checkin.
You could also try going to chat again. Sometimes different CMs give different answers.
Here is Len’s post about the situation.
We should have a replacement out sometime next week.
When the front desk says “we didn’t get the email”, I suspect that’s code for “we got the email but couldn’t satisfy the request”. Because if the CM said “we got it”, that’s a longer, more difficult conversation to have.
@len there was also a post on chat today that a request was made and ignored for a room away from rooms that dogs have been in due to an allergy. They were placed in a dog friendly room. The front desk told them that the room assigners do not have the info regarding the dog friendly rooms, that only the front desk knows that. True, another story, or AI not knowing what an allergy is?
I used the contact us email a couple of weeks ago. I got a reply back from “Executive Correspondence" who told me they noted my request but that I should go request in MDE. When I went to the online check-in (I checked in a while ago), there was no option to request a room. I emailed them back with a screenshot and they called me, and noted that my request was on the reservation (they read it back to me), and then the caveat about requests aren’t guaranteed blah blah blah.
We’ll see what happens.
The room assigners definitely know which rooms are pet-friendly. There’s a specific field for it in the data:
ETA: That info also exists for Yacht, POFQ, and Fort Wilderness.
It is very useful to tell the Executive Correspondence group that MDE doesn’t have the functionality it needs to make these requests. Thanks for doing it.
I know we have talked about other fields in the past and I was sure it was there. Thanks!
I also tried to email my request and got the same type of response - to check in online and note my requests. When I responded back to “Executive Correspondence” and I explained that I couldn’t make any note other than near elevator or high floor and requested they note my request. She responded that they would note it but also same thing about just a request, etc. and nothing is guaranteed, etc.. We had to cancel last minute but have since rescheduled so plan to email another request hopefully in the next week or so.
Our trip is in 39 days, and in the next few days I planned on making a room request following the recommendations from the TP blog post from May 3rd - should I hold off until your replacement comes out this week? Thank you so much for your continued efforts to help us all secure good rooms!
Hey @WDWchipndale - yeah, give us this week to get that in, please. And if you don’t mind reporting back with your results, it would help the community. Thanks!
Happy to do so, thanks!
Hi Len, Do you think it is best to email the room request or try chat? My trip is in 3 weeks from today. It is a rescheduled trip due to one we had to cancel 3.5 weeks go so that is why we are so last minute here. I just checked MDE and it only lets me pick the following: None, Lobby Level, Higher Floor, King Bed , Near Elevator. Thank you!
I apologize - I thought we would’ve had this in place this week.
I would email your specific request to prearrival.reservation.inquiries@disneyworld.com. They’re set up to receive emails, so you can explain what you want. Let me know how that goes, please.
FWIW, yesterday I was able to use Chat to request a certain section of CBR and request that my room be located as close as possible to the skyliner. The CM sent me a confidential form I had to fill out within the Chat box that gets deleted when the Chat is over. I had to give my name, address, phone number, and my confirmation number before she could submit the request. I honestly think she submitted it, because she was waiting for me to confirm which section I wanted to be assigned to. Not sure where it goes from there, but at least she took my request.
Good intel! Sounds like they are implementing the new procedure Len has been talking about.
Thanks so much. Email sent and I received an automated response from Pre-Arrival team thanking me for sharing my thoughts and that someone will contact me shortly. Really!!!?? I’ll keep you posted. Thank you!
Hi @len - I just wanted to circle back with you about room requests. Our trip is 29 days out now. Would you like me to wait to test the new room request process, or should I use the email address you provided a couple of days ago to put our request in?
Also, we may be able to compare two data points. We’re doing a split stay. The first half of our trip we need to put in our room request, but the second half was booked this spring, so we were able to have the room request sent with the last batch in April.
Thanks again for all your efforts with the room requests - it’s greatly appreciated!
Hey! The new room request feature should be live now. Yes, give it a whirl, please. We should have a blog post out today with instructions on the new process, but it’s essentially an email you can forward or copy/paste as needed.
