TouringPlans for new LLMP & LLSP

Has TP indicated when the software will start to integrate the new system into touring plans after the July change date?

Sorry if this has already been discussed. I did my best to find a topic before i started a new one.

Not sure, but I’ll share this here.

Len did say on the daily thread that he was confident the software will be ready shortly. It would be nice if it rolled out before the 24th but then maybe it would be a problem for TPs that are created for days before the 24th? I would think they could use the calander to determine this and have both running at one time. But maybe not.

Welcome to the Forums!!

IME - They need a couple months of data collection before they can adjust. While they’ll have an update in August, I wouldn’t expect to see anything truly 100% accurate until after Halloween / end of the year.

It will probably be a little while till the new system is baked in, but you can always use the existing function to manually assign your expected LL return windows based on your own research of when you think they will be.

Another approach is to create a TP that does NOT utilize LLs and then when it comes time to make your pre-bookings, you can try to get one for the 3 rides that have the highest waits, subject to availability. This method has the added benefit of making sure you don’t over-plan your day and will have some flexibility to do repeats / squeeze in more attractions earlier in your trip. And, god forbid, perhaps have a break.

@len did post this about a week ago on WDWMgic :

In the next couple of weeks - before July 24 - we’ll have an update to the touring plans that:

  • Suggests the best in-advance Lightning Lane Multi Passes (LLMP) to get
  • Knows you can request a “next” LLMP while waiting in line for another ride
  • Suggests the best day-of LLMPs to get, based on current distributions

This is how I’ve always used the TP. Plan out my day so I’m not zig zagging all over the park (I like a circle or a clean figure 8). Then get LL for the rides that have the longest wait times and just leave the long wait times in there.
It allows for extra shopping, going to the bathroom, the afternoon downpour, etc.

When the new tech/code is in place, will we need to make new plans or can we just evaluate the existing plans we made months ago cause we’re obsessive planners?

In the past when there’s been a major operations change that TP has had to adjust for I’ve had to redo my plans. It’s no too bad as I do them on PC and can have the old one up as a template when I start the new plans

Good idea! It won’t take long at all to start over since they are done.

What is that??? :grimacing:

Being that is similar to FP+ they could pull from that data, but then again, park attendance has chnaged since the last time FP+ was used.

There are a few other factors though. There are different “tiers” now & still Lighting Lanes and new attractions that weren’t open back in 2019.

No repeat rides and less users as well!
ETA: Cant remember if repeat rides was allowed with FPP

Absolutely yes. Not in the initial 3, but day of, yes.

This is such good advice that I will never ever follow.

Right, lol!

We’re on pace to have LLMP and LLSP supported for 24 July.

New functionality for the touring plan software that should help with your plans with LLMP:

  • The software will recommend the 3 best “advance” LLMPs to obtain for your plan. These will generally follow our prioritized list from the site and blog.

  • The software knows you can make 3 “Second Group” advance LLMPs if your plan doesn’t include an attraction from the “First Group”. Its recommendations will change appropriately.

  • The recommendations will be as early in the plan as possible. This will allow you to get your 4th LLMP as quickly as possible.

  • But those LLMP recommendations’ return times will NOT overlap with meals or breaks you’ve told the software you have.

  • The software knows that you’re allowed to have LLMPs overlap by 15 minutes. By default, the amount of time the suggested LLMPs can overlap will be determined by whatever you set your walking speed to. (I really, really did not want to add another question for this.) So if you say you walk fast, you might see more overlap. Normal walking allows for (I think) 5 minutes of overlap. Slow walkers will have no overlap.

  • The software will know you can make your next day-of LLMP while in the middle of a current step, and make those recommendations at the right time.

  • You can still enter your own “advance” LLMPs instead of having the software recommend them, including overlapping up to 15 minutes. This is also how you’ll tell the software “I really got these, so use them” when you book the advance LLMPs for real.

As it does today, the software will suggest LLMP #4 and beyond.

We spent 1Q24 updating our day-of Genie+ return-time predictions, and they’re much more accurate than they were. So when you’re in the parks, the suggestions you get should be as close to what we’re seeing in the system as possible.

This will be a really nice feature that used to frustrate me a lot while making my own plans.

Ooh - this is an interesting way to do this and makes sense. I always set my walking speed to the slowest so I don’t overplan, so I am glad to know this detail. I’ll come up with another way make sure my plan is realistic because I want to be able to have an overlap.

Question - if I enter a booked LL that overlaps by more than 15 mins with another booked LL, or overlaps with a meal or break, will the system give me a warning, or will it refuse to accept it?

Thanks!

That’s a good question. I’ll make the UI folks aware.

We’ll probably follow singer Rick Astley’s Rules for System Design: You know the rules and so do I.

So if the rules allow for a 15-minute overlap, and you’re within the rules, it’ll allow it.

Interesting question about a warning message though. I wonder if that would be annoying over time to folks who know it already. I’d like to hear more thoughts on this.
