Tips to beat the heat

These were fun - especially the second, experiment one. Long term hand fan users are adept at using a minimum of motion when fanning.

Adding cool packs - like for sports injuries - to the list can be really helpful. I didn’t realize how hot I’d gotten in AK until a family member laid an activated one on the back of my neck. Ahhh . . .

Cool packs are great when a member of your group is team backpack rather than cargo shorts as very many cool packs can get heavy.

Now we just need a chemical vs mineral sunscreen blog . . .

I’ve always thought TP should have an indoor attraction/queue mode to avoid outdoors in the heat or afternoon storms.

I strongly second this Touring Plans feature suggestion!

I recently came up with the solution! Old school ice/hot water bags. I got this set that has a tiny and small one. Carry it empty, then dump ice water in. If you can get a salt packet and put that in, it gets even colder. The small one would even fit in cargo shorts!
