Throwaway LLs

Hi. I’ll be heading back this Christmas break (12/28-1/5) for the first time since the new LL system was in place. My family is not a group of morning people so I’m trying to work out the best strategy for us. Do I understand this correctly - if I book a Tier 2 LL for park open (eg Teacups), once it expires I can NOT then book a Tier 1 LL in its place? But I can book another Tier 2?

The only way I can book a Tier 1 is after actually tapping in for the first LL?

I’m just trying to get the rules before mapping things out. Thank you!

Yes, that is right. Once you tap in to any attraction you can book any tier, but you must tap in.

Ha! It looks like you got a quicker response on the forum!

Correct. Even if it turns into a multi experience pass because it’s down, it doesn’t count for unlocking tier and park hopping restrictions. You have to tap in.

Also, remember that you have up to 119 minutes after it expires to use that 1st LL, so book a tier 2 you want to use.

If it goes down in that 119 minutes, you will lose it.

Equally important gotcha: Tapping in to an expired LL (119 minute grace rule) doesn’t count for tier unlocks.

Wait, is this true beyond 119 minutes or before 119 minutes? I wasn’t aware of this rule so I’m not sure if it just hasn’t happened to me or if there is a nuance.

I don’t think I knew this either .

Thanks for the info. I hadn’t appreciated how different the new system is. I really got comfortable with Genie+ and FP+. It’ll take time I guess.

I miss stacking but this new system is closer to FP+ IMO. Many people that didn’t know how to play the Genie game HATED Genie+.

Has anyone tried stacking using this system?

In theory it should be possible, using unlocking, modifying and 119 minute trick, but does it actually work?

I’ve seen people say they’ve held 4 LLs at a time but I’d love to see a real “trial” of it.

I have seen people let their 3 LLs lapse (still within 119 min) and have 3 additional ones lined up when arriving to the park. That’s hard to do with tiers (ie you can still only have two tier 1s among those 6) and IME it was easier to just start using them in the morning, but if you are going to show up late due to travel plans, it can be an effective option.

I thought you could replace an expired tier 1 with another tier 1, making for 2 out of 6?

There is a way by using expired LLs. That can get iffy if one goes down, no MEP.
I did do it in HS once but it was stressful.

Yes, that’s the case

Yes, that’s right. You can only have one active tier one at a time.

Oops, I must have misread your answer as only one Tier 1 out of the six. That’s why I was surprised.

No you were right, I didn’t think through my response before posting. I went back and edited it.

That’s what I was thinking might work. But I agree, I would find it stressful.

Was that a Liner? Good to know it does work. Albeit as I posted above, personally I would find it quite stressful. One of those things it’s good to see other, braver, people have used it though!
