I put $5 on Baba Yaga! ![]()
I liked the room layout at SSR (queen/murphy bed) more than our room at OKW (2 queens), and the sink outside the bathroom made it easier to get ready in the morning. Looking at the whole resort tho, SSR was my least favorite of our split stay of OKW, SSR and AKL. It felt like a condo/golf community and was very spread out. We were able to walk to Disney Springs, otherwise a long walk from the pool, restaurant, etc.
Well, it IS a golf community (since the Golf Course is part of the resort), and it is spread out (but very walkable and a relaxed vibe), and the ability to walk to Disney Springs is great. So, it really is a matter of what you are looking for. We love SSR. But it falls flat for others. But we don’t really like over-the-top “Disney” (meaning adding Disney IP) to the rooms as much as being transported. The subtle touches are fine. Like, at the Contemporary…not a fan of adding the Incredibles to the rooms. But at BLT, they did it right…very contemporary, with modern artwork that evokes Disney, but not feeling over the top Disney. You go to POFQ or POR, you are being transported to New Orleans-esque, or Southern flare.
This is how we’ve known WDW since 1988 when we first stayed at the Poly. We were excited to go to the Caribbean on our next stay, enjoyed New England after that and then happy to be in the Pacific NW.
Since 2021 I’ve stayed at all 3 Values. I have to think their value is increased by removing the carpet and adding the Murphy bed/table. Other than being glad for Dalmatian puppies on my sister’s birthday trip, I’m happy to leave vacancies at the Values for others’ enjoyment.
I would like to stay in New Orleans sometime tho. ![]()
Epcot is the best park and I’ll fight u about it lol. Today was the best day!
And Animal Kingdom is #2.
These two parks are just more chill and about the vibe and immersion than riding rides and that’s just better.
AK has been moving up the list for me in the past couple years. Used to be last. Now maybe third. But after Tropical Americas is done, I expect it will move into the #2 spot. MK is probably last…which doesn’t mean I don’t like it. It is OG Disney. Just love the other parks more!!
I hear you. Many times I can’t decide which one is my favorite, AK or Epcot. All I know is I visit those a lot more than the other two.
For me it’s AK then EP, but I will not fuss about the order being switched. ![]()
AK is definitely lacking in attractions but it makes up for it in atmosphere.
I made the mistake of taking regular Dramamine today cuz the less drowsy didn’t completely work I. Epcot. It took the edge off but I had a couple of moments in Mission Space (not the g forces but the left right movement) and in Guardians where I was queasy and after space it lasted a few minutes. But oh my gosh I was too sleepy for the 2nd half of AK. I won’t make that mistake for Epic tomorrow. Better the less drowsy and some queasy that goes away after 10 min or so. But in Epcot we did all the LL attractions except Pixar Shorts, we had a fantastic family meal at Teppan Edo and I got to watch me younger 2nd cousins once removed ride Soarin for the first time and figment and remy. One of the boys was scared for Soarin but I looked over when we went up and a huge smile on his face. I of course requested and was given B2. The girl cousin loved figment but thought remy was too short. DH bought them some Japanese candy and origami paper (for the other two younger cousins as well) which was a sweet surprise. The joy on their faces from their first Epcot visit was so magical and my 2nd girl cousin who is my age and we grew up together (our moms are first cousins and we spend a lot of holidays together cuz our grandfathers were very close brothers) said Epcot was her fave park so see I am right lol.
We did all the LL rides in AK today and walked the animal trails except bird show. Nemo is too short now. It makes it harder to follow the story, lion king is still perfect and zootopia is why in the heck did they do that. Nope to me. Bugs was better.
My kids didn’t want to see Drawn to life so I took my moms cousin and the two girl younger cousins and they could not stop talking about it. It was prolly the best show of our Disney trip. Excellent retheming from La Nouba which itself was good.
Everest we got back row and it slammed my head into that back thing twice so I was trying to hold it back. Hence that photo. But you can tell the person who knows where cams are lol.
Breakfast at rainforest cafe was good. Their waffles tastes like a Mickey waffle but I will say they are pushy about the landrys club both there and at yak n yeti where we had dinner. Which I don’t recall from years past.
I also thought Nine Dragons was solid and Morimoto was excellent but we’ve had four Asian meals almost in a row minus breakfast so I cancelled pan Asian dragon lunch and we’ll do cafe lair de la Sirene or pizza moon most likely.
When you said that Dramamine took you out, you really meant it! ![]()
Lol
I only rode once and they rode three times. I think this might have been the evening extra hours which I used to walk thru Moana.
Also my family I didn’t think could come with us thru Moana cuz they’re staying at a Hilton but they said they only check one person in the party’s room let/magic band.
I’ve also learned (cuz I was nervous about this) that if you have a LLPP and an LLSP and you go during the LLSP time frame it’ll take that one first. And if you have LLPP and a ride breaks down and they give you a golden ticket it’ll take from your LLPP first. I was worried it might use my space mtn golden ticket on Mermaid for example but it didn’t. So when I went back to ride space later it was still there.
We had LLPP at every park and I’d say it was worth it personally to me cuz we just rode things in a circle for the most part and avoided the morning rope drop bus and front gate situation every time. We always left a little early too except at AK where we left really late. 815 on a 7pm close cuz we had 645pm yak n yeti dinner and that also helped with bus lines leaving. We never had to wait for a second bus. DH (cuz we’re in Grandstand). It’s nice being the first bus stop. Yes, that’s why I requested this section. lol. We didn’t get the building I requested (were the third farthest) but they did give us grandstand.
Here’s yesterday in AK for example with LLPP. 1015am Ranforest Cafe breakfast to which I woke up at a nice comfortable 8:30am for and left the room at 9:15am. The AK bus was waiting for us at the bust stop. Arrived at AK around 9:45am (I think it may have been like 9:50. Walked into Rainforest Cafe easily. No long line for security. No one at all at Rainforest Cafe park entrance so walked right in. Rode NRJ, FOP, saw FotLK, drink stop at fruit cart, rode KS, walked Gorilla Falls (will always be Pangani to me), bathroom stop at entrance to Asia, poncho and flip flop change at the outdoor tables or yak n yeti (needed a chair to take off socks), KRR, back into normal shoes (just a little wet and would have been soaking without a poncho) on bench on the bridge out of KRR, candied snack break at that stand right at exit back into main part of Asia outside Maharajah trail sitting on some rock work siding, Maharajah Jungle Trek, EE, Nemo, Dinosaur, Zootopia (shudder), sat at Wakkawallah drink tables right on the water for 45 min rest while the kids did EE and FoP a second time. 645pm dinner at Yak n Yeti, restroom stop by the front gate, bus home. Perfect smooth path, zero backtracking. That’s what the pass buys you. Could we have done all that without it. Yes ofc. But it wouldn’t have been so relaxing and easy on the feet.
