The Lightning Lane Thread! All WDW Info Here

I assume I will! Looking at one chock full day at MK now. (Unless the money saving scheme goes out the window and I buy mnsshp tickets…) I honestly do think that our family would prefer the premier pass payment method at WDW. Just let me pay for the lines I want to skip and be done. Don’t try and make me feel like I’m getting something extra by skipping the line at Buzz.

Agreed - my ideal would be 100% SP, no MP. (Or have the option for a MP bundle, while offering SP for each attraction.)

Once park reaervations went away for regular tickets this wasn’t entirely true. For convetion tickets you still have to have a park reservation for the specific park you want to make a VQ in. I flaked and missed getting a GOTG VQ when we changed our plans mid trip.

I’ve been thinking about this since the announcement of the recent change. I wonder what WDW’s thinking was in rejecting this concept. It would be so much simpler and part of the guest relation issues is that WDW’s skip-the-line systems have been so complicated since the removal of physical FP. Maybe concern that an SP only system eats into VIP Tour revenue?

People have cited this in past discussions, and it could be the issue. It seems they could make it work without cannibalizing if they thought through the incentives.

All they would need to do is make VIP a true skip to the front of the line experience.

For the price I was shocked when I learned it wasn’t skip to the front of the line.

Same!

I also kind of think it feeds into the “continually reaching into the pocketbook” concept. Like paying per ride feels more like nickel and diming while paying one “all inclusive” fee offers the illusion of more value. (Which I dispute…)

I just caught up with this thread. Thank you Jeff for taking the time and energy to make sure we are all up to speed!

The number of people who acknowledge that they, personally, lose money with the dining plan but purchase it anyway supports this.

Oh that’s an interesting analogy. I also prefer to pay as I go with food so maybe that’s why I would prefer SP. I always feel like I eat less than the average guest and would come out behind with the DDP.

On the other hand, I maximize G+ and would probably spend more with SP. But part of the reason I would prefer that is that standby lines would be shorter for fast loading rides, like Pirates and TLM, so I wouldn’t need an SP for as many attractions as I need G+ for, and people who don’t buy MP wouldn’t be at as big a disadvantage.

We did the dining plan exactly once. I was determined to come out ahead, and we did - probably only because snack credit conversions at Epcot and judicious use of the 2 credit table service & character meals. But just eating what we want when we want it is less expensive and easier by far.

Full a la carte skip the line would work really well for us too.

Yeah, I hate eating something because I feel like I need to get my “money’s worth.” It takes the pleasure out of food.

Similarly, sometimes I find myself riding a ride just because I need to use the LL I got. I would rather ride what I want, when I want to.

This is it right here. You only want to pay for what you’re going to eat; you don’t want to pay for something you may not eat.

When I have done the dining plan I have done it so I don’t have to worry about the cost of food again, regardless of whether I eat it all or not.

I prefer the one cost for all LLMP vs the SP

Now - how can they satisfy both of us?

Offer both MP and SP for all the G+ attractions!

I would like to be able to pay for X number of LL where I choose the attractions and am able to put in my start time, meal times and end time and have them timed in windows that work for a nice flow through the park without having to criss cross.

I think that if Disney hired the right IT team, they could make this work.

I also don’t want to be brought food I know I won’t eat.

Was thinking the same. Give the bundled rate for those who want it…but allow you to buy them ala cart as well.

Kings Island in Cincinnati does this. You can purchase a line skip for the day, or single passes…you choose.
