The Lightning Lane Thread! All DLR Info Here

You can if the return time is after 11am (even if the current time is before 11am).

So your scenario is a “probably not” unless it’s close enough to 11 to make it work. Or just use that strategy later.

If your LL converts to a MEP, do you get to book a new one immediately when it converts?

Yes.

8 days till I’s DL bound - first trip!

We have LL for our 3 day membership magic ticket. Is there any recommendations for what to rope drop at DL?

I don’t know what a Membership Magic Ticket is, but if your LL is the same as the regular one: I’d say Rope Drop strategy in DL largely depends on whether you prefer to ride headliners more than once, or whether you like the Fantasyland Dark rides. I like to start there because I like to get my whiff of pure Disneyland nostalgia first thing. Plus Fantasyland gets busy and crowded with strollers after 9.

I usually book Space Mtn just after scanning in, and then head to Fantasyland. After several dark rides, I head to the Runaway Railway in Toontown. It’s usually walk on until at least 9 a.m.. Toontown is most pleasant in the coolness of the morning, and crowds are thin then. I hit Small World next, still walk on by then, and then it’s about the end of my window for Space, so I head there. Maybe hit Matterhorn Single Rider next, or book and immediately board Star Tours and then Buzz. By then it might be 10:00, and crowds are in full swing. Rope Drop is over. Time for breakfast!

I should add: I don’t do Peter Pan because the line is always so long; don’t Rope Drop it. Same for Rise: wait until 9:30 or 10 for that if you must ride it.

I should clarify: I do standby on MMRR because it’s harder to book a quick Return for it. I don’t usually use LL for Small World because I prefer to just catch it while I’m passing by it. Plus I like to do it at night, and sometimes use LL then (as long as my husband isn’t with me, in which case I’m lucky to get him on it once). Also, Matterhorn is my favorite, so I use the LL later to ride again, preferably at night.

This sounds like a perfect morning line up to me! I like MMRR stand by because the queue is its own attraction!

Solid plan. This matches what we were thinking of doing on our first day. Fantasyland to Toontown, so makes me feel better that my plan is not out of line. Was also planning to skip Peter Pan because of long lines.

MMRR drops reliability at :42 most hours for a quick return time

You can tap in 5 minutes early and get green of that hadn’t been confirmed.

Is there a great strategy for how to book? We are planning to LLMP and LLSP at DCA because I can’t really get a plan together that has low waits for everything we want to do there in one day. I have flashbacks of the terrible time I had with it at WDW a few years ago. I don’t really want to do it. I get overly invested in getting the perfect times. But, I think we need it there. I’ve seen some videos where people say stacking for later is best. But, I really would love to do less walking and more area by area kind of touring. Top attractions for us are Web Slingers, Soarin, Monsters Inc, RSR, Toy Story. I thought we could hit 3 of 4 with an early morning. But, Toy Story has now come back on line and has me rethinking strategy. I’m also seeing that some of the Cars Land attractions can get longer lines and thinking of doing them earlier in the day. I’m looking for an easy day where we don’t feel pressured. Do we book lightning lanes as we go? Will things be available close enough to booking time to do that? We will have an early end time of about 5pm. So, I’m not sure stacking is best.

The good news is if you are just doing DCA and are arriving early, you should be able to get through all the major attractions by 5pm, especially if you have LL. Definitely get a LLSP for RSR. Get your first LLMP for GotG. Rope drop Toy Story or Webslingers. Always book a new LL as soon as you are eligible, and try to modify to the earliest possible time that works with your schedule.

Good luck!

The drops are really helpful for moving things up to a better time.

Radiator Springs has two rides that don’t have LL that get longer lines as does the pier. I recommend trying to do those two areas by midday. So a few LL in the morning, a bunch of no LL rides and then have more stacked for the afternoon.

Incredicoaster and RSR have good single rider lines so that is always a back up option.

Is Golden Ticket working at DL?

Last report I heard it did not. Also they are kinda strict with return times so I wouldn’t push it either way on the grace period unless it’s unavoidable.

Since our rides kept going down and it’s getting late, had no choice but to test. Tapped into space about half an hour early and it took the Space LL.

Well that is a good sign. We need more testing!

I was rereading the top post and noticed the DLR hopping section needs updating since they did away with PH time limits. The other one I caught was under “onsite advantages”, EE is gone for DLR now. :frowning: Excellent write up!
